Lightbulb How about an instrumental jazz/rock channel?

Has anybody ever brought this up on this forum?

So many great musicians are rarely or never heard on satelllite radio.

Tony McAlpine, Vinnie Moore, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani.

And those are just some of the guitarists.

Dave Weckl, Simon Phillips, Mike Terrana.

All jazz/rock drummers.

All or most of these musicians have recorded multiple albums.
I know I can't be the only one that would like to hear their music on satellite.

In a perfect world, with unlimited bandwidth where Sirius could add many channels, sure, this would be a good idea. I would listen.
I do not see this happening any time soon, however, as there are more gaping holes in the Sirius channel lineup, imho.

Thanks for postin' Aaron.

As you probably know, these guys aren't just decent musicians, they're considered among the best.

More.
Allan Holdsworth, Steve Lukather(with his Los Lobotomy band), Blues Saraceno, Vinnie Colaiuta, etc.

On and on and on.

C'mon SIRIUS, LET'S HEAR 'EM!!!

I was a big fan of Holdsworth, Al Dimeola, Paco de Lucia and guys like them when I was in jazz band, and thats what a channel like this would need to be, a progressive instrumental jazz channel, but knowing the way Sirius has been selecting their channels, there is no chance that this would happen

There were some very unique channels that Sirius had, Folktown, Vacation, the Globe to name a few and they were all replaced with more mainstream sounding music, except the globe that was replaced by the Stones channel

Jaco Pastorius and Leo Kottke are some other musicians whose music I'd like to hear more often.

I think Jazz Cafe is about as close as it gets.

Post I'm with Timiletto all the way

The idea is too creative, however, for Sirius to ever consider.

Thanks everyone. Keep postin'.

How about musicians in bands that branch out and do their own thing?

Billy Sheehan(bassist extroardinairre) I know has done at least one solo cd.
Jeff Watson(from NightRanger) put out "Lone Ranger." Sammy Hagar even does a cameo on that one.
I mentioned Simon Phillips earlier, who has played with Pete Townsend and the Who, early Judas Priest, Michael Schenker Group, etc. He's got several solos. One of the best.
There are also many great jazz and rock musicians that do their own thing but their material ends up on import cds. There is a lot of great import music out there.
