I agree. I picked it up last week, along with Pure Reason Revolution's "The Dark Third". They're both getting a fair amount of play.

Is that the new Frost CD or the older one? I have the one that came out what, 2 years ago? With Snow on it I believe.

Yes it's a couple of years old. The song is Snowman, I think.

They broke up before doing another CD. There are rumors that they are getting back together.

Big yes to the new Blackfield, 'tis indeed great.

I keep hearing *about* Pure Reason Revolution, haven't checked them out yet. Suggestions on where to start please? (I like the "lighter" side of PT and Blackfield, to put my prog tastes in a context...)

Pure Reason Revolution admits to being influenced by Pink Floyd, and you'll hear a lot of that on "The Dark Third", the American version of their debut album. But there's also a little Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, and there even a riff that reminds me of Caravan. Some reviews have hinted the vocals have a Beach Boys flavor to them. I enjoy hearing female vocals in progressive rock and Chloe Alger is very good. If you've ever listened to Glass Hammer, Ms. Alger adds that kind of touch.

Check around Amazon and the like and you can hear clips of this album.

I am currently listening to the Richard Barbieri/Steve Jansen album Stone to Flesh. It came out a few years ago, but it has Steven Wilson in it, so it's almost Porcupine Tree and sounds like a softer version of PT.

I'm new to this forum, and wanted this to be my first post:

If the petition is still being updated, please add my name! I love Progressions, but I'm usually asleep before it comes on, and one hour is not nearly long enough...that's only time for about three Yes songs, for Fripp's sake!

Check out the thread referring to the playing of Rush's new track on Octane. The suggestion is that it shouldn't be played on Octane, but no one can agree where it should be played.

This is a prime example why Sirius needs a Progressive Rock channel. We need an outlet to hear the new stuff of new bands, and the old AND NEW stuff of the older groups that helped establish the progressive genre.

Thanks *very* much for this info, and thanks to Turnoff as well!! Will check both out.

Apologies for momentary thread derailment.

New Porcupine Tree is here! In the UK atleast. We (my dad and I) should be getting our albums in next week.

Now, all I need is a channel on Sirius to listen to play the new stuff. Let's start calling it in? What channels should call to make requests for new PTree?

Probably Octane...I don't think PT is heavy enough for Hard Attack, they wouldn't really fit on Alt Nation either...Hmm it would be nice if there was a home for this type of music on Sirius.

Plague of the Lighthouse Keeper by Van der Graaf Generator.

??)
they play Van Der Graaf pretty regular..i cant help but feel that this station is really floundering identity wise..one minute they are playing Bob Seger Against The Wind then Gentle Giant..if they are gonna play deep album tracks I wish they would just stay deep..im noticing more and more over played and mainstream tunes on there than I ever have..Classic Vinyl seems to play deeper stuff at this point
im not sure if the dj's pick thier own tunes to play or not but it seems that certain ones tend to play more mainstream than others
