The first Hagar album was damn good. He's not David Lee Roth though. I was listening to Hair Nation last night eating tacos and drinking some brew, and I could have sworn they played 2 VH pre-1984 tunes.

The Sammy era is not timeless music like the Dave era is.

They usually only play Dave era in the Guitar Gods show at 5pm EST.

I've always thought that both singers were good, even though they were different. Artie Lange made a good point on the Howard Stern Show the other day, however, when they were talking about Van Halen making the Rock Hall of Fame.

He asked, if Van Halen broke up at the point that DLR left the band and never made another song, would they have qualified for the Hall of Fame? The answer is yes.

But if Van Halen never existed until the point that Sammy Hagar joined, and Van Hagar was the only version of the band, would they qualify for the Hall of Fame? Probably not.

As Artie said, case closed.

Thats only because the Hagar era didn't consist of 30+ years(needed to be inducted) Niether does the Roth Era... But both Combined Years.... Now That Makes For One Heck of an induction cerimony

I have to admit that I thought that the DLR version was GOD and figured the Sammy version sucked, UNTIL I saw VH live with Sammy and heard him sing with the band. This was shortly after I had heard DLR 'sing' with his solo band. It just left me with a bad feeling about Dave's live performances(kind of like trying to listen to Vince Neil live).

Another thought I just had, seeing the Sammy and Dave tour a few years ago. Dave and his powder-blue jumpsuit were a little out there...

That was a joke, right? I think I saw a karaoke singer do it better last week. I guess he's better since I only counted about 9 times when he was out of key... Back in the day, he would have had a lot more than that...

bottom line is this... the DLR Van Halen is and will always be the best. The first album is amazing. not one bad song. outside of "black and blue" van hagar sucked.

imho they didn't write a bad song until One Foot out The Door or Sunday In The Park.

When Sammy joined the band I hated it...however in time I realized that I didn't like it just because it wasn't Dave. VH is great with Sammy on its own merits.

Dave era rules, but I also like the Sammy stuff for the most part......however back to the case in point.........lets not have a VH exclusive channel.

I guess I'm out voted on the VH channel.
