Default S50 shut down and other questions.

Hello

I have a few S50 questions that I can't seem to find the answer to.

* When I am using the S50 without the dock and I pause a program I am listening to, the S50 will shut down within a minute or two if I don't unpause it. I have auto shutdown turned off...This has happened many times that I have paused the S50 for it only to shut down and completely turned off a minute later when I return to it.... How do I correct this and allow it stay on when I pause it, when it's NOT in the dock...

*Which leads to question #2... Has anyone heard of the S50 having a firmware update that will allow you to turn back on your S50 and perhaps have a memory bookmark and RESUME where you left off? I had a 2 hour program stored that I had to Fast Foward to for an hour before I got back to my original spot. This is something that is really annonying.

* Another question is a bit technical and is in regards to Kbps( which stands for kilobits per second) or (thousands of bits per second).

I noticed when I transfered MP3s to the S50 that had a bit rate of 20kbps that the program played fine.... BUT when I transfered an MP3 with a bit rate of 16kbps that program WOULD NOT play.

Does the S50 require that anything being played in its system be 20kbps?
Is this why 16 Kbps wont play?

*The final question-- Is there a stop button on the S50? Can you stop a program you are listening to and go to another program? The only way it seems that I can stop a program in my playlist and go to another program is if I hit the playlist button or setup button. There doesnt seem to be a stop button on the s50.

Thank you for reading and any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

For your first two points: read through all of the threads - there are countless comments about pausing and wanting a firmware update that will incorporate a bookmark.

Regarding bitrates....I don't have the manual in front of me, but somewhere in there it specified the bitrates that the S50 is able to play. I don't remember them off the top of my head, but I think there were 4 or 5 over a pretty broad range.

i agree on your #1 point.

As an avid iPod user -- i really do enjoy the "quickstart" option--
It's kind of a bummer that we have to reboot the S50 after a minute of idle time. i figured that's what the "shutdown unit" option was a true shut down and the other times it would "sleep" - guess not....

looks like we're stuck with the boot......or is my unit wacky?
