Default Home Dock Recording Shows Back to Back

Hi. I had my car kit working in the home as a home kit until I recently was able to purchase a home kit. On the car kit i was able to record 2 hour blocks of Howard 100 back to back with no issues. The Home Dock doesn't seem to want to do that. I get the first 2 hour block ok, rest freezes up or just doesn't happen although the heart logo shows as if it was recording. Customer Service said to either give the recording a 5 minute gab inbetween recordings or return it as it may be faulty. Has anyone had any luck recording this way or any other? Thanks much

I had this problem if the Home Dock was powered off before the sheduled recording. When I left the S50 powered on over night back to back recordings worked OK.

If you rely on the wake up feature, you need to leave at least a 3 minute gap between recordings. This is becasue the unit shuts down at the end of the first recoding, and when it wakes up it does so 2 minutes prior to the start of recording.

You can do back to back recordings with no gap if you leave the unit on in the homedock. I do this, as it is a great way to get new my channels content recorded overnight.

However this only works if the unit wakes up, I have 5min. in between recordings and the thing just doesnt wake up to start recording.

There actually haven't been many, if any, people complaining that the homedock doesn't wake up. That stinks though, i've got nothing for you. Have you done the firmware updates?

Thanks very much all, will give that a shot and see if that works. So far it does "wake up" but I gotta say for the time and $ we've invested in these products (especially how hard they are to get your hands on) they should be much more superior.

Quick question- is your S50 showing the correct time and date?

Well it seems to me that if the S50 isn't carrying the correct time and date, potentially the operation of the scheduler may not work as expected. I think there was a short stint a while ago where a bunch of people's S50's were showing the incorrect time, and it had to be reset by some Sirius operator guy via satellite signal?

I was just curious about that scenario, on the off chance this was the case.

makes sense, thanks much my time seems correct. I don't want to keep the thing on 24/7, so i will try the 5 minute gap inbetween recording segments and see if that works.

PS Can you tell me what this my channels content recording is about? Is it automatic based on your presets?

It is automatic based on the channels you listen to the most. It starts saving them after about 15 minutes of continuous listening.

Thanks everyone for your help. The 5 minute gap DID WORK afterall when letting it come out of sleep mode. Very cool to know. I appreciate it.

I take it back, I leave town for one day, nothing changes as far as my sheduled recordings and NOTHING recorded when it worked the other day??? WTF? This is way too difficult for such expensive gear. Thoughts anyone? Does this unit have to come out of the home dock cradle once a day or something? What if you leave town for a week?!

I imagine the S50 designers would find the notion of anyone bearing to leaving it home, instead of taking it on the road with them, was utterly preposterous. (sorry, I couldn't resist) Anybody get the idea the S50 designers never imagined the degree and scale of useage we would demand of it, hence they ended up biting off far more than they could have possibly chewed? [/commentary] This thing seems to be begging for a mission control level of stability and rock solid operation that only someone who builds corporate Cisco routers could provide. Maybe they should get some Cisco help on this.
