Default Home dock funkiness after the upgrade? HELP!! no scrolling!

i've been having problems with the PDT scroll not appearing and having really in and out signal on the home dock. i do a channel reset and that fixes the problem, but sometimes the channel reset takes a few hours...i'm affraid to stop it mid-channel reset. it's also pretty annoying to have to reset the channels every time i turn on the home dock. anyone know if stopping a channel reset will kill my S50?

i think i will try a reset to defaults if the channel reset ever stops.

has this happened to others? when i upgraded, i plugged into the car dock for step 2 and it never shut off at the end, it rebooted then did step 3 twice in a row. the pdt wasn't showing up on the car dock at first, but a channel reset fixed that and now the car dock works like a charm...but the home dock requires the channel reset every time. sometimes the reset takes a minute or two, and sometimes (like right now) it takes over 4 hours and counting!!! only at 46%...can i pull it out?

What is your signal strength when it takes a long time?

Maybe you don't have a good signal.

the antenna is in the exact spot it has always been in. same spot when the channel update takes 10 seconds. i live in NYC and get pretty much terrestrial signal exclusively. usually between 25% and 75%. i don't think this has to do with the signal strength because after a channel reset, works like a charm...i just have to reset channels every time i turn on the home dock to get the scroll.

can i yank it or unplug it during the channel reset or will that destroy my s50?

You won't destroy your s50 is you yank it. Wost case if it has an error restarting, you could do 3 finger reset.

cool thanks. i'll let it run for the rest of the night. hopefully it'll jump into my stern recordings in the morning if it ever finishes up. i think i should try a reset defaults too.

there are a few reports of the CAR dock's tuner being more sensitive after hte update. So I'm wondering if that's not part of the issue with channel updates taking so long? maybe some how the player firmare is more sesitive to the dock's signal strength and so now what was fine with 1.2 (25% signal strength) is not good enough for 1.3?

just a thought... trying to piece things together....

my car dock works like a dream, my home dock however is not working nearly as good as it had before the update. i left the dock on all night last night to ensure recordings this morning...it didn't grab the second recording, but it got the first 2 hours. this weekend i'll play around with it, but so far, every time i plug into the home dock, i don't get a PDT scroll unless i reset the channels. also, my reception goes in and out every other second until i run a channel reset. a reset defaults did nothing for me.

should i try the 3 finger salute?

Unfortunately this problem has not resolved itself. Any suggestions? Should I try the 3 finger salute? Should I downgrade my version? It is REALLY annoying...
