do you have access to 184?

try setup > device settings > reset channels when docked

Welcome to warranty hell. That's what I got out of mine after three days of use. You could try to update the firmware, but more than likely you should just avoid the pain by calling to get in line with the rest of us (the other pain you can't avoid).

Colin,

The same thing happened to me today. It was outside (recording) in single digit temp's.

I noticed I don't have a sirius id (physically won't let me go in and view it when in the car), but it shows it when I sync with the pc. Then I take it back to the car and ithe sirius id is gone.

Please tell me what you did. Mine is a year old (To the day) and I don't want to do ANOTHER 3 finger wipe. It takes a while to build back the library.

And I doubt they'll do anything for me since it's a year old.

If it's only one year old just take it back to the store you bought it from and exchange it for another S50 - or do what most of us frustrated S50 owners have done and pay the few extra bucks and upgrade to the Stiletto.

Surely you bought the extended warranty that has been so highly recommended over and over and over (did I say over?) here on this forum.

Oh yeah, are you showing zero satellite reception on both your home and car docks? That's what told me my S50 had failed, and even tech support acknowledged that it was toast.

How many extra bucks to upgrade?

ive had the same thing happen a couple times. The channel reset fixed it. Ive also noticed that if I dont turn it off, it doesnt act up as much. Sometimes I also have to pull the battery.

$20 ($350 - $330). Plus the cost of new docks and a new extended warranty, of course.

And, oh yeah, the battery pulling and/or channel resets that used to work to fix the no signal problem no longer did, due to a total loss of satellite signal. My guess is that the satellite chip/circuitry or something in the connection mechanism (i.e. a pin) failed. Either way, my (4th) S50 was DOA.

That's the type of encounting that bit Enron. I suppose if you're still within the store's exchange period, that works out. Except that the S50 is selling for 175 (or 75 with rebate) and that's likely what a person would have paid if they purchased it recent enough to do a simple exchange and upgrade. Most people are looking at dropping $350 and disgarding the $330 investment.

Why do I care? B/c I'm having the same issue with my player. I'll keep looking for a solution. I didn't purchase the extended warranty b/c they are usually a crock. Just the store padding its bottom line. My first S50 went on the fritz just before the warranty expired. My new one is now on the fritz today. Disappointing b/c I just bought a home dock so I can take advantage of the NASCAR. If I can't get this figured out, my wife will pick up the phone and talk to customer service tomorrow. Seems my experience with them a few short months ago was better than a lot of others.

If anyone has another idea how I can solve this issue without any CS help, please post.

Anyone using this forum who hasn't bought the extended warranty from a big box store - especially for S50's - is either VERY new here, or hasn't been paying attention. Or, just doesn't care about going for long periods without their receiver.

And anyone who has already had one S50 fail should certainly realize the benefit of a measly $40 warranty that is good for four years!

As for my accounting, I did indeed pay $20 to upgrade from the S50 to the Stiletto. Lots of us bought S50's when they first came out (for $330). If you paid $175 for your S50, the inevitable Stiletto upgrade will set you back $175 instead of $20 - unless you wait long enough for the Stiletto prices to come down as well.
