igforbes will become famous soon enough

It's not just a stopper, it's like a minijack (like on a set of headphones) attached to the plug. Must trick the FM transmitter into thinking it is being piped into the FM antenna directly thus cutting the transmit power. Something like that.
how do you remove new S50 FM out plug?

Default New S50 owners - read this!!!!

Got this from the wife for Christmas last night. You absolutely have to remove the plug in order to have any chance of using the FM frequency option. I went through 4 or 5 different frequencies and still got static. I was about ready to cry until I came here and saw this thread. Popped out the plug and used the little antenna that was in the box (that the owners manual made no mention of, BTW) and it's crystal clear now.

Going to BB tomorrow to buy the extended warranty. Hope mine lasts a long time - I'm so geeked up about this radio.

Here's a pic of it next to the pushpin I took it out with.

I think the instructions should have covered this. I did not get any antenna for the FM out. My Here 2 Everywhere's FM output is so powerful once when I went to rent a truck, while my Wife drove my car back I was able to listen to it from within three car lengths!

I have the S50 connected to the aux in in the car but due to the way my house faces the antenna cable only reaches so far and the unit does not reach the home entertainment system so for indoors I need to use the fm out until I can get to radioshack (again.) Even with the plug removed while 10 feet away from my Harman Kardon AVR 635 I have static when going through the radio.

I am planning on putting the casstte player back in my wife's van so she can connect the S50 directly without the FM and since she probably won't need the CD player as much now anyway. I was going to snag her FM antenna since mine got lost but her's didn't come with one unless it's hidden in another package...

Maybe I'll try some comparison testing if i get some time...
