Cool FM Range on S50

Have read that some of the different units offer different ranges for the FM "broadcast" (foe lack of better term). Work in a Firehouse and park next to bay would I be able to listen through radio in the bay????? Few hundred feet and cinderblock building. As you can assume am looking into purchasing my first unit and enter the beautiful world of commercial free!!

Obviously the new S50's have been "Neutered" as far as their ability to broadcast far distances with their FM Modulator. I have not seen it but apparently there is some type of plug that is inserted into the FM OUT connector in the car dock. Reading the posts, there is a way to remove this plug and get the reception better, and with the addition of the short antenna wire in the plug gives you even greater distance. Now telling you all this, I still don't think it is going to go a few hundred feet through the wall.

When I had my S50 in my van, I could park it in the garage and pick up the radio in the room adjacient to the garage but not much more.

I believe a better solution would be to connect one of those whole house FM transmitters to the radio which would extend the distance greatly. There are lot's of posts about these in the forum so do a search on this.

I think I have one of the older units. I can put the unit in one end of the house and pick up the signal on a portable boom box about 30 feet and several walls away. Not great, but good enough.
