Default No sound from saved songs

Recently I've just noticed that I'm getting no sound from saved content. It appears to be playing but no sound comes out. Regular satellite reception is fine and If I love a recent song, it will work but all my other songs have no sound. This happens when its in portable mode and on the home dock.

You've been bit by the famous "Encryption Key Changing" feature of the s50. From time to time, the s50 will "Forget" its own encryption key. Once it does this, it does not remember how to decode its encrypted saved content. It regenerates another key and starts encrypting new songs. The old songs it thinks are songs copied from someone else's S50 so it won't play them.

Some people feel they need to do a 3 finger erase of the flash drive because this could of manifested itself with a corrupt file. As long as you are starting over, it would not matter to reset the s50 just to make sure. Although in over a year of seeing these things, I really don't think it made any difference, it happened to people a second time too.

The best thing is, if you have some important saved content, re-record the songs or shows by playing them into your computer and create a MP3 file out of it. Save that file or burn a cd with it. You can then copy it back to the s50 as a unencrypted mp3 or wma file.

Again, one of the known features of the s50 that moved us on to the stiletto.
