Default Battery time? (six hours my ass!)

EDIT: Moved by MM

OK I LOVE this thing. I can take it on my route with me, and while I'm talking to some old lady about registered mail, I get to hear Yucko the clown in my other ear calling someone a cunt. So far , I only play recorded Sirius shows, not so much the MP3's yet. The only problem is, I'm getting 3 1/2 to 4 hours of battery time, tops. I know the thing says UP TO six hours but damn, this thing is coming up WAY shy of that. I know I can get an extra battery for $30 or so, but it's kind of a pain in the ass to charge them both.

I guess I'm just wondering, are most of you folks getting similar battery performance? Better? Worse?

Get one of these, you'll be able to listen for days. I have one, but haven't tried it on the S50 yet. It works great on all my other devices...has a belt clip, you could just run the USB charging cable around your back to the other side where you may keep your S50 clipped on.

Is this the big battery or the small battery? If you're only getting 4 hours when listening to recorded content using the big battery you have a problem. I get 4 hours when listening to LIVE content using the big battery.

APC makes a battery with a USB connector. Saw one at Sams Club for around $60. Suggested uses were iPods, Phones, anything with USB charging.

From what you saw, do you think the APC battery can be used to charge an s50 with the usb cable? Does it have the correct voltage?

I actually got one, $55. USB Mini in, USB out. Comes with a USB plug in charger like the S50, and a USB to USB Mini cable. I used it to charge my Motorola Q, and it can also power the Stiletto. It is not a high capacity battery, but is nice and skinny. It will also charge while powering, keeping this between the S50 and the charger would let you disconnect and reconnect the charger and not have the S50 power off.

As kind of an aside. Since S50s appear to be going away. Do any of you in the know think that batteries will get hard to find? Would it be a good idea to buy another one while you can still find them?

3.5 to 4 hours is my experience too.

Its a chance you may need to take. Lithium technology batteries start to age right off the assembly line. After 2-3 years, with or without being used, they start show a sharp reduction in capacity.

It would be best to wait till the last possible production run to get spares.
