Default Need Help

Howdy all,

I received a S50 for Christmas and am having prolems. Did the initial hookup and he preview channel was operational. Sometime between then and activating it things went wrong. Currently when in the car dock it will not go beyond the logo unless you go to setup. Once you go to setup and go back channel 184 comes up, but there is still no signal. Going into device settings there is no satelite signal? Not sure what to do from here. Have reloaded the newest firmware and reset defaults. Tried the channel reset, but it locks on please wait and you can't do anything else. No percentage bar or anything. Should I exchange it? Is the stiletto better? Losing faith.

Thanks for the help.

Normally if it hangs on the dog, the channel.cfg file is corrupted in some way. The fix is usually to do a channel reset.

The Channel Reset needs to have the satellite signal to process it.

Make sure your antenna connection is tight. Try another channel reset after you remove the battery for 10 seconds and replace it. You also need to have a good signal.

If all that does not work, then I might do a 3 finger just to make sure the flash drive is not messed up.

If after all this, it still does not work. I'd return it.

same problem here! and to further that note, my esn (or Sirius ID) is unreadable when docked. the satellite needs that esn number to, absolutely nothing works right now. well, maybe except for stored content.

3 finger didn't do the trick either. everything reformatted correctly, although now I don't have a Sirius baseband version listed anymore...just a Sirius Baseband v0.0.0 listed when I check for software updates through MSS.

Strange how this `no signal' (total loss of satellite signal) seems to be cropping up more and more these days.

No amount of resetting - including the 3-finger - could fix it for me, and eventually led to my Stiletto upgrade. The Stiletto reception is perfect with the same home and car antennas that didn't work at all with my dead (no signal) S50.

I have a feeling you may be able to fix the way they are telling you but return it now. It will happen again and again. Its not worth spending all that money on something that will eventually not work at all.
