Default "data error, need to restart" Can't get rid of it after multiple 3 Finger Resets

Okay..this is getting frustrating. Was doing well for a couple weeks with no issues, then out of nowhere I get the "data error, need to restart" error. Outside of going through that longer startup with that happening, all I seem to lose is the bitmap art here and there like in the station art in the top right corner. Not that big of a deal, but I kinda liked it there as a "neat" feature.

I start reading about reset possiblities and do the battery pop out. Didn't do a thing. Decided to do the three finger reset and start it all from scratch. The whole process works like a charm. I decide to throw some mp3's on. Going to see Wicked in a month so I thought I'd throw the album on there along with some acoustic favorites. Try to eject and it disappears from the SMM but still says not to disconnect on the S50. I wait and wait. It's even ejected by windows too. So it's just frozen that way. Have to do the battery reset, and low and behold I have the data error again. And it won't access any of the songs.

I do the three finger again. Works like a charm. I load on just the Wicked album. Seems to go well. I can see the songs and everything. So I go and plug it in to free Audiovox boombox via the headphone jack. Didn't see any play all choice, and I didn't want shuffle, so I just chose the first song. Played it just fine until it ended, then it froze. Had to do the battery reset again and gues what...I get the data error again, and I can't access the music.

F'in annoying now. The mp3's are all burned properly at 320kb ( I like quality over quantity) and work on all my players. So now I'm just beside myself wondering if I now have to deal with customer service. Grrr...

What the heck causes that data error, must restart problem?

It really sounds like something gets corrupted whenever you move over any data. If you done the 3 finger where it formats the flash, I would expect that this is all you could do youself and now it's time to get it exchanged.

It sounds to me that you are doing it correctly. I have moved over lots of files. MP3's graphic files, Even work related documents just using it as a flash drive. No problems.

Call warranty exchange and get it replaced or if you have an exteneded warranty take it back to where you bought it.

Thanks. Reaffirmed my fears. At least it sounds like a lemon out of the box and not something that happened down the road. It's only 3-4 weeks old so I'm covered under warranty. Guess we'll see how that headache goes.

well I made my claim and did the advanced exchange option. We'll see if it really takes just two days to process and arrive within another 4-8. At least the radio side is usable.

I did the advanced exchange on Dec.15, my new S50 showed up at my house on Dec.22. It really only took 7 days. Plus, they there was some extra stuff in the box. Hopefully it will be this easy for you.
