Unhappy Two Questions

I am having trouble getting non-static reception. Why doesn't the s50 go down to frequency 87.7 or .9. (this is in another thread also) I am getting " No Signal" in Cleveland The Satellite and Terrestrial move around quite a bit and when this happens I get the "no signal". I used a different antenna same thing and a friend of mine has a starmate and was right behind me not getting that problem. I will try not having plugged in when I turn on the car and also doing a reset.

The FCC changed the rules about using the FM stations under 88. That is why you cannot do it now with the s50.

Get a FM modulator and your static issue will go away.

Where is your SAT antenna located?

Did they change the rules, or was it that they were forced to enforce them?

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB - the Primary Lobbying group for terrestrial radio, a.k.a. Sirius and XM's competition) is crying foul to the FCC about the power outputs.

The radios are all certified under part 15 of FCC rules, which set specific limits. Some radios were exceeding this by as much as 200 times. Manufacturers are complying in order to avoid decertification of their radios.

Actually, that was a different issue than what is being asked about. 87.7 and .9 were removed because they interfere with a part of the broadcast TV signal. Channel 6, I believe is where it interferes, so they removed those as options.

Get an FM mod like MM suggested and it should fix the issue. You can also try http://fmchannel.sirius.com/ to find the best channels in your area to try.

As far as the static goes, just remove the black plug in the FM out in the car dock.
