Question Software upgrade?

Morning,
I got S50 for Christmas and love it. Don't fully utilize it like i should(sits on base in car) but was curious what I will gain by using the software CD that came with it. Any new features I will notice or not worth the trouble?

The software just allows you to connect the S50 to the computer and load
Mp3s and get software updates. It wont give you any new features.

Using the MySiriusStudio (or MSS) software will allow you to move MP3s to the device, make playlists and also to update the firmware on the unit itself. The current version is 1.4.1. You can find what version your unit's firmware is on by going to the Device Info screen under Device Settings. You can also find out by clicking the wheel-looking icon in MSS next to the S50 when it is connected. That will show current and available versions and allow you to upgrade. Personally, I recommend upgrading to the newest version. Some people will warn against it due to some problems that were seen in earlier versions of the firmware, but I think it is pretty solid and adds some nice features.

I wouldn't even take it out of the dock unless it's to fix a freeze up or sudden shut down. (both very random and about once a month at 10hrs/day and very easy to fix)

Pretend it doesn't have portable features.

That's the most useless advice you've given today and you've tried repeatedly...

Mine works great in portable mode. I've recorded the Howard Stern show everyday, 5+ hours and take it to work, not to mention the several hours of Bubba, the nightly 9PM show on H101, and over 200 Loved songs. Way to try and sour a new user's experience right from the start... Maybe it's not the device that's the problem...

No, I'm talking from experience with it being out and leaving it alone. Not scaring anyone. I love the thing for it's ability to FF/RW/PAUSE/LOVE BUTTON and at it's current price it's a STEAL.

I would think that a souring would be like when I took the advice to update the firmware 3 days after we were given the OK only to have the dock DROP DEAD.

Enjoy the S50 REGARDLESS. Just be gentle that's all.
