Default Anyone NOT have to get S50 fixed/exchanged?

I'm a new user of my S50... about 2 weeks now, and i have not had any problems with it. But this forum is filled w/ users who complain about the quality of the S50. I'm curious as to the percentage of people here who have had major problems with their S50... This might give me an idea of what i can expect with my S50.

Thanks for participating!

You're going to find that many of us on here had problems with the S50 since that's how a lot of us found this forum. People with no problems don't have to come looking for solutions.

That's a good point... but too late, the poll is posted. Let's see how many found this forum after being happy w/ their S50!

I've got three. Done one 3FR for an encryption key problem. And I think I had some power and unclean startup and shutdown issues immediately before. I think that if you are very careful about having the thing turned off when moving from one dock to another, or make sure it is completely up before you shut it down (sometimes you can't help that if there is a power hit), you can minimize your problems. That is just my opinion. Your experience may vary. It is a little computer, you have to treat it like one. But it isn't the most robust device ever made. The threads in this forum are proof of that.

Also, a very similar thread to this was around a few weeks ago. So your premise isn't new. If people bother to respond, you will find a fair number with absolutely no problems.

I had my S50 for over a year and never had a single problem. I just recently sold it only because I really wanted to upgrade to a Stiletto.

I replaced my first one but I later found the problem could have been fixed with a channel reset (which I had to do 2 or 3 times on the new one)

S50 is fine but had to have the home dock replaced under warranty.

I hope 3 finger Salutes don't count.

Owned my S50 for over a year. Only had to do one 3FS and have only lost all my songs ONCE! Bricked one car dock but that was my fault - I accidently pulled it out of the receptacle without shutting down. Recently just bought my 2nd S50 at Best Buy for $70! (and the 4yr warranty was only $15!) Have no desire to get a Stiletto. I have an FM Transmitter that broadcasts all over my house and even up to 1/4mile away from my house (always thought it'd be funny if one of my old neighbors accidently tuned to 92.9 and heard Howard :-).
I know some day in the next 4 years my S50 will die and Best buy won't be able to get any more and they'll be forced to give me a Stiletto but I'll wait for that as long as I can. LONG LIVE THE S50!

Got my s50 in Dec 05'... no problems for about 4 months, and then (of all things) the f*/cking volume button broke on the media player (something cracked/shifted internally). Also the reception started getting progressively worse. (and I was beating the sh*/t out of it, constantly bringing the whole thing to and from the car everyday).

I did the whole warranty exchange thing (which took many months), finally got my replacement unit and had the thing professionally installed in the car. I can't express how happy & satisfied I am with the professional installation, it has made all the difference in the world so far. (Knock on Wood).

I no longer do anything other than use it in the car... (I have the sportster4 in the house now) like many other posters have stated on here, I'm treating my new s50 with kid-gloves... I'm too nervous to take full advantage of it yet.

BEST OF LUCK !!!!

Never had to have the thing actually replaced, and it's just over a year old now.

First one constantly received channel updates due to a heat issue (read: busted capacitor or mainboard), so I returned it to BestBuy and got a new one after a week. New one has been working great so far... still less than a month, though.

I am currently experiencing problems right now . I switch my car dock over to home antenna and power for work. I'll take the antenna and put it outside somewhere, put on my radio and hope I can pick up the signal. I have been doing so since Jan 9 2006 although not everyday.

It eventually works and I wonder why in the hell I bother
