Post My e-mail to Sirius Customer Care

I just finished sending the following e-mail to Sirius Customer Care about my S50. I am very happy with my unit, but find it very frustrating that Sirius has seemed to have forgotten about the S50 now that the Stiletto is out. It doesn't make any sense that they haven't fixed the "shutting off when pausing" issue. If this didn't happen, I would have hardly a complaint about my unit. I will post what they say back.

............................

I have a question about my Sirius S50. I received my S50 in Christmas 2005 and have been mostly happy with the unit. I was one of the unlucky people that encountered the infamous failing car docks when an earlier update came out and patiently waited for my new unit to arrive. I completely understand that there can be growing pains with a new product.

One thing that concerns me is that it seems Sirius has forgotten about supporting the S50 now that the Stiletto has come out. The Stiletto looks very attractive, but I'm not quite ready to spend another $350 on a new device yet. One or the largest issues I have with the S50 which has not been addressed by any firmware update has been the illogical way that the S50 will power itself off whenever a show or song is paused in undocked mode.

I am a big fan of the Howard Stern show and the Stern staffers touted the S50 highly in the beginning of 2006. I have religiously set up night-time recordings of the Stern show ever since and usually listen as much as I can during my work day. It is very annoying if I have to pause my unit for whatever reason but then within a short time it will shut itself down and then I have to fast forward to find where I was. This also drains the battery mightily. Then, if I plug the power into the S50 while it is paused it will start over at the beginning of a show when I try to resume.

I would think in over a year since the unit has been released that such issues would have been addressed by now. Almost every MP3 player on the planet will allow resumption of a track whenever it is un-paused. Is there a reason why this hasn't been addressed? This is pretty much the only issue that plagues me about the unit. Are there any further updates planned for the S50 or has Sirius stopped supporting the S50 users out there?

Thank you very much.

Sirius said that they would continue to support the S50 with firmware updates, as I predicted, and as we all see, that statement was complete BS.

I agree. Since it seems like from the initial release of the S50 that the company only has 1 (ok-maybe 2) programmers, they are probably buried with the Stiletto...

They suck. We all knew this would happen. They barely supported it when it was the only one they had.

I quit Sirius specifically because of the way their CS is trained - i.e. screw the customer - who cares: "we have your money"!

While I agree that there customer service sucks, as does most customer service (really customer no-service) almost everywhere these days, I pay mostly for the music and entertainment.
