Default Sports Schedules Online, via Telephone, or on channel 184

For sports covered by SIRIUS Play-by-play, schedules and channel assignments can be found all at on place:

http://www.sirius.com/wo/sportsweekly/index.html
Via the SIRIUS Listener Line at 877-33-SIRIUS then hit 5.
If using a cell phone dial 877-33-SIRIU (as they don't seem to like the extra digit)
On your radio on Channel 184.

Joe, even in years past, it was never a full schedule for the NBA and NHL. They usually promoted it as "Up to 40 games per week." But I heard an NBA promo today, and they used the NFL tagline, "Every Game, Everywhere." So I don't know what they have planned.

Somewhere is a dank, dark corner of Sirius HQ, I'm sure Ron is working to get a press release out on the new agreement.

I e-mailed Sirius about college BB and they responded saying that they didn't have any information yet, but when they do they will put it on the website.

This is a stupid question, but what's the exact number to dial for 877-33-SIRIUS? I can't get it to work.

Default Newbie

Alright, I'm new here and to Sirius (switched from XM). One of the reasons I switched was for the NFL and I just found out about NCAA basketball (GREAT!). Anyway, I thought you could listen to all of the NFL games. When I turned on my receiver yesterday, I had a grand total of two NFL games being broadcast. In reading here it looks as though I should be getting all of the games. Any ideas as to why I might not have gotten all of them?

I have the Audiovox receiver if this helps. I was looking in the Sports category and just didn't see the streams. Also, do they put the teams playing in the stream name? I certainly hope so.

Thanks.

Default Information at Sirius.com is terrible.

There really is no excuse for Sirius's website to be as deficient in their scheduling information as they are now. Posting information is cheap and easily manageable (ESPN, Yahoo, joeblowsports.com don't have a problem posting schedules that cater to their audience and is updated in real time.) If they can spend millions on Stern, surely they could shell out $75,000 - $100,000 for a webmaster that understands the importance of up to date content for all of their programming.

I find it silly that I'm considering purchasing a Yahoo webcast account for $9.95 per month just so that I can get access to these games because I can't determine with certainty if it's availabe on Sirius or not. But I have no idea what they have on the air at the moment unless I toggle through all of the channels and dig for it. I understand it's a necessary confusion for Sirius to assign these games to channels that aren't exclusive to sports content (i.e. TWC East) but they could at least post a live data feed that tells me what's on all of these channels.

I don't want to hear about how hard it is or why it "can't be done." I'm a fan of satellite radio and I chose Sirius over XM but I'm not terribly happy about their half-baked website and their seeming lack of desire to exeucte on the paying customer's behalf.

If it weren't for SiriusBackstage, Sirius would look incredibly silly (more than they do right now to this customer) and they should seriously consider partnering and paying SiriusBackstage to provide this information with free reign.

I am upset. The Sirius web site says the Spurs are on channel 180 tonight, 12-18-04. They are not on. So I call the number to get updated sports information. There is no option for NBA. What is up with this?

I don't think that it is possible to overstate the seriousness of this problem. Not only do subscribers have painfully little in the way of scheduling data, the few channels or genres of content (like the NFL, NBA games) that do have schedules are inaccurate rather more often than one would expect. Not to mention that many games during end-of-season (bowl games, etc.) are rarely listed at all.

There is absolutely no excuse for such a blinding oversight.

Sirius Corporate would do well to heed the constructive criticisms of its subscribers should they want that pool to grow. I encourage all on this board to take a moment and pen a quick email or letter to Sirius Corporate regarding the importance of accurate and pervasive scheduling of programming whether on their website, a downloadable and printable guide, or ideally, both.

Default This was the email that I sent to corporate...

...shortly after posting here. Pretty much the same as my original post with a few modifications. Their email is "genfeedback@sirius.com" They did respond and indicated they would forward the information on to the appropriate people:

There really is no excuse for Sirius's website to be as deficient in their scheduling information (particularly sports programming) as it is now. Currently, Sirius's website is convoluted and disjointed once you get past the home page. Posting and organizing information is relatively cheap and easily manageable (ESPN, Yahoo, joeblowsports.com don't have a problem posting virtually real-time content that caters to their audience). If Sirius can spend millions on Howard Stern, surely they could shell out less than $100,000 for a webmaster that understands the importance of up to date content for all of their programming.

I find it silly that I'm considering purchasing a Yahoo webcast account for $9.95 per month just so that I can get access to these games because I can't determine with certainty if it's available on Sirius or not. I understand it's a necessary confusion for Sirius to assign these games to channels that aren't exclusive to sports content (i.e. TWC East) but they could at least post a live data feed that tells me what's on all of these channels. Doesn't it seem ironic that programming is Sirius's competitive edge with XM...yet Sirius doesn't provide a clear picture of what that programming consists of?

I don't want to hear about technical difficulties (after all, Sirius has cutting-edge multi-billion dollar satellites in orbit) or why it "can't be done." I'm a fan of satellite radio and I chose Sirius over XM but I'm not terribly happy with this half-baked "what's-behind-the-curtain" website and their seeming lack of desire to execute on the paying customer's behalf. The catchy, Flash animations are snazzy but they soon resolve into an annoying web page (that resembles a broken record more than anything) when there is nothing on the other side of the door to support customers after they have signed up.

The point is clear: Get your customers in touch with what they are paying for. Help them get the most of what it is you offer.
