You think Dave_A was trying to make XM look good or something leaving out all those Sports off his Sirius listing. ROTFLOL

Sirius still has the BEST college sports coverage hands down.

I knew I could count on SBS's #1 XM fanboy to show up and make an irrelevant post. The poor guy even has to start listing individual programs like the Mike K show, in order to pad the total.

XM only has the U.S. Open tennis tournament?! Sirius has Wimbledon, far and away the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world.

XM only covers three college conferences?! Sirius covers SIX.

Ooooohhhhhhh, gee whiz! Ain't golf exciting on the radio! NOT! Like the National HOKEY League, THANK GOD Sirius DOESN'T have it!

And Soccer in Spanish! I'll bet that's real exciting for about the one percent of XM subscribers who actually understand Spanish. Unfortunately, it ain't gonna do the other 99% much good.

NFL....most WATCHED sport.
NBA....not every game.
English Premiere....and you laugh at Deportivo.
Horse Racing....I bet that draws the subscriptions.
PAC 10 and Big Ten....kinda slim with only two teams in each, huh?

Poor Sirius fanboy. He doesn't have the Coach K show to add to his total. His favorite word is irrelevant ....like most of his posts.

I guess the service with the best sports depends on which sports you like. Either service can trumpet their lineup to the moon, but if the sport(s) you like are concentrated on one service, then it doesn't matter what the other one has.

I rarely listen to sports on the radio, so I could care less whether XM or Sirius has the supposedly best lineup. If it were up to me, they'd get rid of all the sports and add more music channels.

One point i think should be made is that all NFL games are played on Sunday. People are home on Sunday and can watch the games. Sirius has the better college football lineup but once again those games are played on the weekend.

XM has the MLB, games are played EVERY day. People can listen to the games when they are not home. They are taking the NHL, games are played EVERY day.

Sirius took Nascar but once again, races happen on the weekends. You see a trend? The only sport that has games every day on Sirius is the NBA, but as we all know the NBA is not as popular to listen to as the MLB.

One reason I chose to SWITCH to Sirius after two years with XM was the NFL--

Why if it's 'only good to watch' NOT listen to?

Because I can listen to other teams I follow, when their games are NOT being broadcasted in area.

Speaking of BAD sports on the radio, have you 'listened' to a hockey game? Definitely a VISUAL sport.

XM has passed Sirius in Sports, just because of MLB alone.....

The big two sports are NFL and MLB. Each has its advantages on satellite radio.

In NFL's favor: People are more likely to listen to an "out-of-market" (a team other than your local team) football game than an "out-of-market" baseball game, mostly because of the influence of gambling. For baseball, most people would only listen to their local team, which is available on AM radio any way.

In MLB's favor: First, there are ten times the number of regular season games as compared to NFL, spread over all seven days. Also, due to the slower pace of the game, baseball translates better to radio than football.

Overall, it's about a draw between the top two sports for the two services.

In the next tier are NBA, NHL, NASCAR, and college sports. Sirius will have NBA and NASCAR, while XM will have NHL. NBA plus NASCAR is greater than NHL. As for college sports, Sirius covers 12 teams in the current top 25 football teams (according to most recent poll), while XM covers 13 teams. But Sirius has March Madness. So overall, Sirius has a slight edge in the second tier sports.

All other sports (golf, tennis, horse racing, etc.) are essentially "noise" since they're relatively minor or don't sound good on radio. Final verdict: for play-by-play, a slight edge to Sirius.

I have to agree with you on hockey. Its just too hard to follow on radio.
