Default Who's Jime Rome? Does Jime rhyme with Dime?

Jim Rome would be a great addition. If you don't like him- don't listen! There are plenty of other channels to choose from. Sirius's weak (compared to XM) sport talk needs more choices...

I used to listen to Jim Rome, by himself he's good, the clones got old. Having said that, I wish to take more content away from terrestrial radio and have it benefit satellite radio more.

I do wish however, that Sirius and XM would come up with their own radio 'stars' to market.

Would the host of Rivals radio count as a "radio star?"

Well, I’ve done some investigating, and here’s what I came up with.

This is not the real TX WJ. It is an imposter. The real TX WJ would not have misspelled Jim. Take a look.

Default Rome on Sirius

He's starting to hint that a move to one of the two satellite networks may be in the offing when his Premiere contract is up.

I think he'd be a great add to Sirius.

Rome does have a huge Ego so could you imagine if they gave him a whole sports channel for sports programming!! He would be a big draw for sports fans whether they like his views or not. Just imagine some of his callers with the ability to be uncensored.

Someone emailed him this week and at the end of the email stated "war Rome getting Sirius in '06". Rome replied that he did not know what the emailer was referring to. I hope he does move to Sirius. That way I can save the $6.95 a month I pay to stream his show over the net.

XM is one of his sponsors (search for XM on his website) for his radio show, does that make it more likely that he would go to XM? I am thinking so. His show would fit nicely on the XMextreme channel. As a dual subscriber, I am ok either way, but he would be a better fit for sirius. I think sirius would need him more. Sirius could use more sportstalk and a "Jim Rome Channel" with other sportstalk talent would be a great, and needed, addition. That being said, I am not sure that he would pull enough people in to make it worth the full channel. Due to the "howard effect" can sirius spend more money to bring more talent in? I assume that Rome wouldn't be cheap... If Rome does go to XM (if he does sat radio), I think that could be attributed stern. People talk about rome's ego. Would you want to go to XM where you could be a big face, or a top dog, or go to sirius and be in Stern's shadow? Then again, its about the cash, and maybe the "reckless" sirius spending continues... It will be interesting to see how it goes...

I was listening to him yesterday in Toronto and he was saying that his contract was up for renewal and asking what his listeners thought.

He kept mentioning $13 a month...so who knows, Sirius may land the Rome show as well...with Stern and Rome, I would really have no reason for terrestrial radio anymore.

No matter whether you care for the "clones" who call in or not (many of them are very funny though), Jim Rome is THE best sports interviewer in media today. The reason? He interviews athletes like a fan would and asks questions most fans want to know. He isn't afraid to tick a guy off by asking a tough question and will follow up hard if he feels the guy is dodging him. His questions elicit very telling and insightful answers. You learn something about the athlete and where he is coming from when you hear a Rome interview.
