Of course, there will be an uproar from public, Congress but the NFL will get around it by simply putting the bad teams or non competitive matchups on free TV & the premium games on the NFL network. The NFL's argument is....we're putting games on regular TV.....but who would want to watch it???!!!

That's interesting, because I used to have Adelphia as well, before Time Warner bought out the company. And on our system, the NFL Network was on the regular line-up, or what's known as expanded basic. True, it was also broadcast on the regular digital line-up, but it was never an extra cost digital plus package to us.

But I just hope it gets settled, it really seems to me that the NFL Network is just holding out for higher prices on these 2 huge cable companies. If you look on the NFL Networks site, it lists cable operators who carry it. Most of them are "Mom and Pop" providers that I've never even heard of. So how can they afford this service if it's so expensive? I think the NFL gives them a better deal, and is just hoping they can get the big bucks from Warner and Comcast.

Charter Communications used to have NFL Network in its "Sports Tier", but pulled its programming because Charter refused to pay the fees and move the channel to expanded basic. As much as I hate having cable, I have to side with them in this because the NFL is hijacking the cable companies.

See: Sirius 124.

Anyhoo, NFL games will only be exclusive to the NFL channel if they can make more ad revenue than NBC, CBS, ESPN/ABC, or FOX is willing to pony up for the rights. Remember, sports are often loss-leaders for the networks, so they'll pay through the nose for them.
