Default Who belongs in the Title game?

Michigan, Florida, Boise State? I honestly don't know. I can't pick. All 3 of those teams deserve a shot. Obviously Boise State has a weak schedule, but still, they are undefeated. Who knows, they could beat Ohio State. Michigan only lost by 3 points in Ohio States house, how would it turn out on a nuetral field? Florida won the SEC championship in probably the toughest conference in the nation. Why don't they deserve a shot?

Although you know what would be really sweet? If Michigan and Ohio State plays again, and Michigan wins, then Florida wins thier bowl game! What nightmare scenario for the BSC that would be!

Either way, 2 teams are going to get left out in the cold and have a legitamate reason to bitch.

I hate the BCS!

I say Florida because: 1.) Michigan did not win their conference title, and I think it's important to win your conference if you're going to play for a national championship. 2.) If Michigan gets the rematch with Oho State and wins, what does it really prove? The series would be tied 1-1 and would leave people thinking they should play a best out of three game.

Boise State had a great season, but would not finish .500 in a tough conference, imho.

Having said all that, I hope Michigan goes, for selfish reasons... It would allow my LSU Tigers to possibly go to the Rose Bowl, which I was really hoping for.

Screw them all! Get a damn playoff system so this discussion doesn't take place year after year, after year, after year..........

I know it's going to be Michigan, but I would rather see Florida.

Why? As someone wrote on at a sports forum I visit, because of the way it would work with OSU-Michigan, OSU would have to beat Michigan twice to win the "national championship". But Michigan would have to only do it once.

That is not fair. It's not fair to the only team who has shown why it should be here. Plus I'm a believer in winning a conference championship in order to play for the title.

Doesn't matter in the end though. I won't be watching this year, and I'd encourage others not to either.

I'm rooting for whatever will produce the most chaos, so it would be unclear who the champion is. That will increase the pressure to start an actual playoff system. So under your scenario, I guess I'd pick Michigan beating OSU and Florida winning their game.

Well, you can almost be assured that Florida will win their bowl game if they do not go to the Championship game. They would most likely face Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. They would have to spank ND badly to "prove" that they were more worthy considering how badly Michigan beat Notre Dame at South Bend this year. You are right though. It is high time for a playoff. Let's settle it on the field and not at press conferences based on who is the flavor of the day. I am, under full disclosure, a Michigan grad but I still feel we should go to the title game. Florida may only have one loss but they got outgained in four of their games (LSU, Auburn - their only loss, Vanderbilt - who Michigan outgained by 220 yards, and South Carolina). Also, Florida loves to complain about us getting a second chance. Funny, their only National Championship came in 1996 (I believe) after they got a chance at a rematch against Floriday State who they lost to in the regular season.

Florida has taken the Coaches poll. Michigan could have a slight advantage on the computers from what I gather. Harris poll is who knows what.

This will be a very interesting night.

Default Title game

I think it will be Ohio State-Florida. I do think Michigan deserves it, however.
Just my opinion.

Oh yeah, Ohio State's gonna win!

Is it just me, or has the BCS killed your interest in all but about 2 or 3 teams every year? Back before the BCS, you'd want to know the scores of several different bowl games, because several bowls actually had a bearing on who was going to be #1 in the rankings (note I did not say national champion). When #2 was playing #5, and #1 was playing #8, and #3 was playing #7 (or whatever), you could create all kinds of scenarios about who was going to be #1 if so-and-so knocked off so-and-so. Now, only the "National Championship" game matters one whit. Everything else is the NIT. If we had an 8-team playoff, there would be equal focus on 8 teams and the four semifinal games. That's one of the joys of the NFL and the expanded MLB playoffs - you go into the final weekend with teams jockeying to make the playoffs and for home field advantage. Michigan didn't even play this past weekend!

Ugh.

I've never seen so many people fight over getting their ass kicked. Sure would be funny if people in bars acted the same way!

As much as I hate Ohio State, they are easily the best team in the nation right now. Michigan was the only team that could have beaten them, but they had their chance, and they didn't do it.

Part of me wishes that Michigan had been put in to play OSU again, because that, in my opinion, would have caused the most uproar to discard the system as it exists now and put in a playoff.
