Ah yes, the taxpayers buy another big toy for another rich guy! I'm simply amazed that the taxpayers in Arlington would vote for this. I'm glad I don't live over there.

The stadium is estimated to cost 1 billion. Taxpayers are paying 325 million. Jerry Jones is paying much more out of pocket than 90% of owners in other sports.

I hear what your saying but the City of Dallas has dropped the ball again, they should have built this at the Cotton Bowl.

I don't blame owners for moving teams to cities that will help them pay for the stadiums.

The Racetrack (horse) should be at fairpark as well. The Ball Park as well, how much nicer would downtown be if those things were there.

My point is that I don't care where they build it. I just don't want to pay for it!! The taxpayers may "only" be paying $325M, but, it should be $0! Just my opinion!!

That would be nice, but in most NFL Cities there is a sharing agreement where the cities, counties/parishes and even states thru taxpayers make an investment to keep teams in their area.

I know in La, the Saints are just about paid for my the state to be in New Orleans. I don't agree with that, but I also understand what it means for exposure to our state, the boost to the economy. The fact is because of the Superdome we've hosted several Super Bowls and other huge events. This is a real shot in the arms for the state and the city of New Orleans. If we don't reinvest some of that back and these teams leave, then everyone loses.

One of the big things Tom Benson (Saints Owner and a POS) in my opinion, always wanted a new Stadium and he wanted the state to foot the bill for it. The state couldn't afford it. But with Katrina and the fact that the dome was damaged, between insurance and FEMA Tom Benson got a totally remodeled and revamped Superdome. This isn't just good for the Saints, but for the State as a whole, because it allows our state to host major events that the dome can accomodate.

I see nothing wrong with the taxpayers paying part of the cost of the new Stadium for the Cowboys. The pay back over time make it a very good investment.

DAB, believe me, I understand the concept and the arguments pro/con. I'm a Cleveland Browns fan. Scum of the Earth, Art Modell, moved the team to Baltimore to become the Ravens because Cleveland would not build a new stadium. After Modell left, Cleveland built a new stadium - smaller than the original Cleveland Municipal Stadium. I don't recall the financial arrangements Cleveland's case, but, I believe if the city builds the stadium, they should own the stadium along with all concessions and a substantial piece of the gate. The team can lease the stadium for its games and other events. The city can lease out the facility for other non-conflicting events. The way most of these deals work, the city throw in a bunch of money and the team owner takes EVERYTHING from gate, concessions, and non-game event.

I already pay WAY TOO MUCH in taxes, this is simply one more thing I don't want to pay for.

In the late 1990's, Columbus Ohio voters turned down a tax for a new NHL Hockey Arena. Guess what, within days a company funded the arena. (Nation Wide Insurance)

Bravo to the Columbus Voters!

The city benefiting from concessions, etc is a great move but I have to agree with some folks hear. The taxpayers should not have to pay for a stadium if the team could pay for it. Granted it is the NHL (Columbus did it) but the Philadelphia Flyers owner has done it twice. The first time when he started the team he borrowed $1million from the Phillies owner and financed the spectrum through his own contacts. The second time he built a statium it was 100% privately funded through CoreStates bank (Now Wakovia) and comca$t.

It can and should be a looked at more in all sports.

Look at the Penguins they might leave Pittsburgh as a result.

That is a cool stadium. Quick question though is it real grass or astro turf and can the field be moved into the parking lot a la Cardinals Stadium.

They would be hard-pressed to find room for such a facility at Fair Park, I think; tearing down the Cotton Bowl would not do the trick. But the neighborhood is downright dangerous and it would be gutsy to do it over there anyway and Arlington/I30 is much more centrally accessible than Fair Park or about anywhere else in the southern part of the metroplex.

I wonder whether more of a site centrally located in the north might have been a better choice for the next 25-30 years though.

I hear you about the neighborhood, but that is exactly why they should have put it there. Camden Yards help to clean up downtown Baltimore.

Default Another Toilet Bowl

Who cares? Shouldn't the Cowboys give up the name Dallas because they don't even play there? LOL...build a stadium in your hometown, like Philly or Denver.
