Default Bears lay down week 17?

I am curious if anyone else thinks the Bears might lay down for the Packers on Sunday night.

They have been giving up way too many points lately so its posible they might play starters to try and pull back together before playoffs... BUT... they have nothing to play for at this point, Home field is all locked up.

Why I ask is...
The Giants must lose to the Skins (lock, the Giants wheels fell off) &
The Packers must lose to the Bears (makes me nervous, detroit almost beat Chi yesterday)
for the Panthers to get in to the playoffs. (@ Saints)

Yesterday Da Bears didn't look too great, but I wouldn't expect them to let the Cheeseheads go away happy. They like the sweet taste of their opponents tears of defeat too much.

I think Grosmans overrated, but he has a great front line that gives him a lot of time. Favre is a legend, but he should have retired last year. I give Chi a one in three chance of making the SB. I give Grosman a one in ten chance of making a soup can.

In todays NFL who knows what will happen. I don't think that the Bear will win the NFC. It could be New Orleans or Philly at this point. I don't think that the Panthers will get in, watching them I think that they have already mailed it in this year, although they did put together a win this week, so who knows.

Agreed, Chicago's defense has fallen into a slump at the worst possible time.

No one in the NFC is playing as well as the Eagles right now, but the Saints can play great as well.

I think if the Bears hold off the Packers Carolina will get a playoff spot.

Unhappy

I don't see that the Bears will give the Packers a break. I was born and bread in Wisconsin and these two teams have a rivalry that is more than the common professional obligation to win. They will both really put in their full effort. As much as I like the Packers, I doubt they will win or even make it a close game. Farve will throw his usual interceptions because of all the pressure from the Bears defense. The shame is that the Packers have young players who have the potential to become great, but it will take some time and Farve probably won't be there to lead them on.

The bears will not lay down, they have to work on their secondary to get ready for the playoffs, cause like you said, they are slumping, tank should be back too. Also, I'm sure if chicago can keep Green Bay out of the playoffs they will try their hardest. One thing I've noticed this year about chicago is they seem to always play down to their competition, at least in the last half of the season. Grossman can get the job done if his head is in the game, but if not I have confidence in Griese after seeing how he moved the offense last week. Seeing how the NFL has been going this season, it really doesn't matter how well teams are playing, they still can lose, so its very difficult to sit there and say that philly will win the NFC, you never know.

One thing that has been talked about is chicago hasn't been playing their usual defense, they have been switching it up over the last 2 games, makes me wonder if Lovie is setting opposing teams up for the playoffs making them think they are changing their defensive schemes.

I hope everyone keeps thinkin chicago is a nothing team, it makes it so much more fun when chicago wins. GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!

Nobody is saying that, just that they have had some flaws exposed recently.

Although everyone WAS saying that Chicago would shut Carolina down with their awesome defense in the playoffs last year and we all know how that went.

I hope we get that chance again!

No Scipione, people are saying that, I didn't mean you by that, but the media in general, they've been doubters all season long. Sure the eagles and saints and whoever else comes to play in chicago in the playoffs has a chance to win, all the teams to me in the NFC are equal in my opinion, so on game day its anyones game, but like I said the media in general will always pick against the bears. kinda like how no one respected the pats a few years back, until they won a couple superbowls.

Smile Who would have thought

As a Packer fan, I was glad to see it, but also surprised that the Bears played so crappy. It was like it was planned to lose like this. I say that tongue-in-cheek, but at the end when Favre got all weepy, it just seemed like the Bears knew that he was going to retire and gave him a send-off present. Of course Favre said he hasn't decided. I think he sort of made up his mind before the game, but then after he saw that he still can play well, he knows that leaving will be very hard. So will he go or not? Before the game I think he thought he would go, but after he is now unsure. I think he sees the potential in the young team and may want want another year. But he mentioned his kids and being with them more and so I just don't think he has made up his mind yet. He's getting an operation on New Year's day! Maybe if his ankle is fixed he may want to return? I don't think he has made up his mind yet.

if the Bears did it won't be the first time it has ever happened. farve's last game why not, the game didn't mean anything to either team, just sorry to see him go, he was very emotional last night, sorry to see him go, but I bet that so team out there will convince him to come with us for a super bowl run, maybe

Default Favre

If Brett is back--it will be with Green Bay.
