Why can't they just simulcast the shows? I have no problems payng $6.99 for baseball yeah it's that worth it to me, but now to just hear the baseball and the baseball only I have to pay to purchase a XM radio that wont even work with my existing set up in my car (dock etc) pretty crappy.

I agree. I would pay extra for baseball per month. But the fact that I have to go out, buy a XM radio, drop my second radio from my Sirius sub, pay 6 bucks more a month then a am paying now for my second receiver...all because I want to hear baseball? Too much trouble and too much cash out of my pocket just to set it up. The good news is that I will vote with my $$$ and stay the way I am now with my 2 Sirius radios. If they want to see some extra cash from me they have to make things a little easier money wise.

i wonder if this will be an irrelevant option in the future.

here's a thought- lets say that under reorganization that the combined company shifts all of one type of programming to one specific brand or the other, ie all sports and talk on one reciever and all music on the other. it may not be a good idea so soon after merger, but say what about a year after merger closed when interoperable radios have been out on the market?

Good idea, but it's not going to happen. First, you need to remeber that the parties promised not to obsolete any radio. So, XM and Sirius radios still need to be usable for the foreseeable future. secondly, think about the OEM situation. GM cars getting trials of an all sports service; Ford users getting no sports (or vis-a-versa). Yikes!

Default It's cost vs. benefit

I third that. The only thing I would gain is a few music stations, a better right-wing talk station (IMO), and IRL & NHL. By the time I buy a XM receiver that can record (the only way I could get full advantage of the sports programming), and add another 6.99 a month for another receiver, I just can't see forking out the dough. I also have directv with DVR, so you can record most of the sports you want. I think a sports ala carte system would be best.

My and my wifes cars are sitting in the garage with inactivated XM radios. They've been inactive since the "freebie" subscriptions expired. I use my S50 in my car to listen to Howard and a few other channels.

Unless I can activate those two cars for $6.99 each (as "second" radios), they are going to stay inactive. Heck, I might even pay the $6.99 + $4 to get Howard without having to futz with the S50.

I am sure that there are THOUSANDS of people with my situation, owners of Hondas, GMs, Acura's, etc, that have inactive XM radios. If they want $12.95 a month for these, they are going to miss a large revenue stream. They're much better off with $6.99 than NOTHING!

I am in the same situation and I totally agree with your statements here! I wish I could activate my 2009 Hyundai Sonata's XM for $6.99 as a sub-radio on my account, but I will not pay full price for it.

Same here, I'd first in line to activate my wife Lexus XM if I could add it to my Stiletto sub.

I think there will be an explosion in new subs thanks to Howard. I'm not a huge Howard fan but his listening base was a ton of people on their way to work. With more cars having factory installed XM than Sirius, I anticipate that the subs will jump because they will want to listen to Howard on the way to work.

If this happens, Howard could keep at least something close to his current contract.

For one, It would take away any reason to get any of the extra packages they are offering now. Why have a Sirius radio and purchase a best of XM for 4 or 5 bucks more when you could play 2 bucks more for ALL of Xm on a XM radio added on? XM subs could just get an extra Sirius radio for 7 bucks and get all of Sirius rather then paying 4 for just Howards package.

I wish they would do that, though. Definetly makes more sense. But as their plan is now, it won't happen.

Although I agree with this statement, I have to say that it will occur, if you look at many tiered packages for example in cable this is exactly what they do.

Offer you channels at 2$ a pop or you can get a package of 7 channels for $10, although you only want 3 or 4 out of there you fish out the extra money.

Why, becuase you figure although you will never watch/listen to, you might in the future, and its worth it.

After using XM on Direct TV I find no use for it. There was just nothing Sirius didn't have already and better. Make it their "video" side of things and dump the rest. I'm sure there's something good on there but not enough to keep the entire lot of stations around.

The playlists were just terrible.

Hell yes I would I actually just had to buy one, because Sirius doesn’t come in at all in my new apartment. I miss it already, personally XM sounds funny it has like a weird effect on voices sometimes. I am not trying to bash just stating my opinion if I didn’t have to pay $12.00 for it I would be happy. With that said it beats regular radio, and plus I get baseball witch is nice.

I have been a dual sub for 5+ years now, & the last 2 with XM I have been paying $77 for a year on my service on 1 radio. This is widely available to anyone who asks for it. Breaks down to less than $6.42 a month. Problem solved for most that have built in XM units...

I believe more people would get it at the 6.99 a month than at the 12.95. What are your opinions.

Who can I send this idea to at Sirius XM?
Would I?

I already have done it.

And by "IT" I mean that I have already asked XM customer service 2 or 3 times and they said that it will happen but probably in 3 or so months.

I am in the same situation. My wife has XM built into her car. I have a Stilleto. I also have XM in my car but I let the subscrition run out because Hockey season was over.

Not sure if I would add my car but my wife only cares about music so it would definitely be worth it if the price was at the $7 mark.

Not really sure if I should go quarterly at this point or if I should buy a whole year and just transfer the balance when I am able to merge the 2.

Haven't been to the forums for awhile, but came back looking for the answer to just this question. We have 2 sirius subs. Wife's car an XM-ready Honda. I wouldn't think of paying full price for an XM sub in her car, but wouldn't hesitate to add XM as a 6.99 option.

Can't believe they are not allowing this...

Looking at "all" the new sub options they have I'm not impressed either. I just don't see many folks except hard core types spending 4 bucks more or anything more than what they are spending now, but they will definitely increase subs if they allow new activations of xm (to sirius subscribers) or sirius-ready vehicles (to xm subscribers)as additional 6.99 activations vs full price. A no-brainer!!!

Well, I guess when your company stock is selling for the same as a postage stamp an extra 6.99 from folks instead of getting nothing really doesn't matter in the long run...

Curious if anyone that reads in knows the answer: What if I change my primary sub to the 6.99 ala-cart sub (would have to buy new radio...) will I still keep my 6.99 additional (full sirius sub) or will my additional sub convert to an ala-cart? Can you add additional subs at 6.99 to a primary 6.99 ala-cart sub? If so what level of service would additional subs added to a 6.99 ala-cart sub get?
