Unhappy Lifetime Subs - check your account !!!

I am a Lifetime Subscriber since 2004.

Imagine my surprise, logged on to my account and it says...

ACCOUNT NOTIFICATION
It’s time to extend your subscription! Our records show that your service is scheduled to end, so pick a new plan that’s right for you!

Why would I have to extend my subscription and why would it expire? I have a LIFETIME account. Any one else get this message?

What's the deal? Are they not honoring LIFETIME subscriptions anymore?

Signed,

A Lifetime Subscriber since 2004.

Thanks for the heads up. Just checked my account and all looked ok. But I'll now monitor it a bit more closely.

Default Lifetime Sub. appears to be in order

Welcome to SBS mphixson. After reading your post I checked my account via the Sirius website and my Lifetime subscription is in fine. No notice for payment or any other unusual things. The only change I have noticed is that they now call the account "Sirius Everything". In answer to your question though, Sirius ABSOLUTELY is honoring our Lifetime Subscriptions and gave us written assurance when seeking the shareholder vote for approval of the merger. So no worries on losing your service!

Do you happen to have any additional receivers attached to this account? Or maybe a Premium Internet subscription that needs renewal? If the answer is no to both of these I would definately contact Sirius CSR with the link in my signature or by calling the 800 number and ask them to review this for you.

Please post an update and let us know how this works out for you. Hopefully this is just a computer glitch!

Red face

Thanks for checking your accounts. I called and they had to cancel out the radio and put it back in. Looks a little strange showing a charge for ANOTHER lifetime subscription, but they credited me in Full. Well I guess I can't complain too much as long as I only have to do this EVERY FOUR YEARS..

So now it shows Sirius Everything (Lifetime), but..

The message still comes up saying...
It’s time to extend your subscription! Our records show that your service is scheduled to end, so pick a new plan that’s right for you!

But on the plus side, at least now it shows I have a lifetime subscription again..

Thanks again for checking on your accounts!

Mel actually said he doesn't want any more lifetime subscriptions, unless they need some extra cash. And he said if he did reinstate them at a regular price, he would want them to be $999 or $899. I got mine for $499 two years ago. And now my receiver is on it's last legs, for the past few weeks I've had to wiggle the power cord to get it right, but just in the past day or so, this only works after quite a bit of effort.

Luckily, I have a second subscription. I'm glad I can wait to buy one of those dual radios when they are released in approximately "9 months"

A lot of this information can be found in this one hour town hall meeting that Mel did with employees the other day.

http://www.orbitcast.com/archives/au...l-meeting.html

I don't know at which minute he said the thing about lifetime subscribers, but if somebody listens, it would be cool if they could post back here so it's easier to find.

I have a regular sub with a zero bal and have the same message appear. I chalked it up to a software bug.

mel probably doesn't like me right now. i found the lifetime option and i am the newest sirius xm lifetime subscriber. i know that now sirius has no obligation to keep me happy because they've got my $460 (i was credited for the quarterly sub that just auto renewed), but i have been a big believer in the format. i just have to make sure that i take care of this reciever for a while.

so, what, i got about 3 years before i have free radio?

i do still plan on getting one of the interoperable radios however.

The effective date on yours is interesting and might reflect when they renamed the current Sirius subscriptions the Everything Sirius package? My Start Date is still correct in My Account though.

I've been a lifetime subsciber since 2004 as well, and here's the message I get on my account info page:

"It’s time to extend your subscription! Our records show that your service is scheduled to end, so pick a new plan that’s right for you!"

What the hell???

When I check my billing info, it does show I paid for a lifetime subscription in 2004, but what's up with the other message???

Got this message too, but there is no number or date after ESN / Start Date / Package. See red box on top!
No clue

D'OH!!!!!

I just added another lifetime sub on Friday and got clipped the full $15 for activation.

That brings me to a total of 5 lifetime subs. The first is over four years old... I'm making money on that dude.

I got two of my lifetime subs for $399 each last year. Unfortunately that deal is GONE.

I think that the expiration message is a little bug in their web site. I have the same message with no ESN's or other data listed.

Looking further down on the page, I WAS a bit concerned that one of my five lifetime subs has NO plan data. It just shows the ESN with no other data at all. I called CS today to verify that it is indeed a full lifetime sub and they analyzed it and assured me that everything is fine. Curiously, this unit's lifetime sub was transferred from an old Clarion to a Stiletto a couple of yeas ago.

CS also verified again that lifetime subs can be moved three times.
