Thumbs up College Sports!!!

I am very glad to see that XM's College Sports offerings will be available to SIRIUS subscribers. When the SEC signed with XM last year, it really hurt SIRIUS' College Sports lineup IMO. I'll be curious to see how these play-by-play channels will be setup as I hope they don't just offer "game of the week" offerings as opposed to the entire suite of games.

I guess I'm in the minority but I'm psyched about this announcement! Also it looks like the NBA has jumped ship so this is another huge benefit of subscribing to this package.

I am excited for the sports package, but just disappointed in the end result, because I feel Sirius got screwed. I doubt the ESPN radio theory is wrong or else they would have listed MLB home plate on the list. The college sports package will be nice, and again proving they have channels, because do you realize how many channels will have to be around for both services college offerings? Plus its not like the MLB all plays at the same time, it’s no different than the NFL. I have an XM radio to so I guess I shouldn’t care, but I still am a little bit of a Sirius fan boy. Can someone explain the la carte option to me? Can I only choose from one services channel set, or do have a wide-open list?

I fill the same, XM got the better "Best of Deal" and I believe MLB wasn't part of the deal because the season is just about over. So the Best of XM on Sirius, I don't like most of the channels they are offering. But at least I get to listen to the NBA and NHL again and looks like the NBA has jumped ship over to XM?

Not that much since I am working and moving around at night. Not that bad of a deal if your a XM sub though. Now they have football and Howard and if you are into it Nascar. Sirius subs got the short end of the stick if you ask me.

Just one question though. Are there any discounts coming for second radio subs?
Thats the overall question I have. Also, could it have been announced as NBA in error and was suppossed to be MLB. I don't remeber any announcement that the NBA was moving to XM. One would think that if that had happenned, it would have been plastered all over there site as they did with the NHL and SEC.

Another question is this: What about folks who subscribe to both services. Will they put the services together in a package such as family programming. Personally I have 3 Sirius subscriptions and 1 XM subscription, I'm sure others are also dual subscribers.

its worth my while for the hockey. if i can get the avs for 82 (hopefully more) games next season on my satellite radio, getting the best of xm was a worthwhile investment despite being the only thing appealing on that list.

louisville, kentucky is a hockey black hole despite having st. louis directly to the west, columbus directly to the north and nashville directly to the south. you would think being this close to not one but THREE franchises we would get some decent exposure here, but no.

this coming from a lifelong native still in louisville and never seeing a pro game in person.

is it possible that i could trade the nfl and nascar on sirius for other xm offerings?

That's odd you say that. I can't find one "nasty response" to any of your posts in SBS. I find the people here are generally very helpful.

I don't think that excluding MLB is a new thung. When Mel was on Howard talking about best of prgramming and Gary pressed MLB, Mel answered "if you want MLB, you can pay 12.95 and have XM" (not his exact words but close).

This really sucks. I feel that Sirius subs get screwed here. Why would I want Oprah or O&A? I used to be a dual sub and dropped XM because I did not want to pay 12.95 just for MLB.

Yes the college sports (XM's is better) is nice and if you are an NHL fan (which I am not) it's a nice get.

But I do not remember NBA going to XM exclusively and my main draw is MLB.

I hope they fix this soon. I do not want to get an interoperable radio and pay $3 just for MLB. I have two very good sirius radios (Stiletto, Starmate4) and do not feel like dolling out more money on a radio just to get MLB.

Bad move Mel. The first big "benefit" for listeners was a big dud.

Has it ever been confirmed that in dash OEM receivers will be able to receive the Best Of Packages? After reading the issued statement, it looks like some radios will not be able to (which I knew would be the case for a la carte).

By the way, XM has been calling me to renew my XM trial in my Civic and when I called back they said they'll have pricing information this Saturday. With both Howard stations making the Best Of package XM, I think I'm making the switch (provided my OEM unit is capable). Not a Bubba fan but wouldn't want to miss out on specials like Straight Talking.

I do. Probably in the October time frame but that is just a guess. Not sure whether it will be a big bang or a channel at a time or if it will be Sirius channels or XM channels which survive or a combonation of both.

It just reinforces my belief that I made the better choice in going with Sirius. I'm still paying the same, getting the same and maybe the company is stronger on the backside.

Just like my computers, I like to keep my SatRad Virus-free...

I, too, am disappointed about MLB. That is the one thing I like on XM.

I feel just the opposite. I made a very bad move going with Sirius, but who could have predicted that this would happen. Think about it....

If I were an XM sub I could upgrade to a best of both package and get

MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and Howard Stern and O and A and Nascar, and everything else for $16.99.

If I didn't have a lifetime sub to Sirius, I would jump as soon as I could to XM. I feel to make this a fair deal, MLB must be offered to Sirius subs as soon as the new season starts. There is no reason why we should be shut out of the playoffs and world series of this season. Cmon!!!
