I had hoped they would at least let ESPN do the game on Sirius tonight. No go, blacked out.

The reason the "best of" Sirius is better than XM is the same reason most of you are Sirius subscribers and not XM subscribers- that is, Sirius has better content.

Having said that- I am hoping the best of XM includes a lot of their college sports. Sirius' college football simply sucks since they lost the SEC. If they can get that back, they will get $4 more a month from me.
It isn't clear if they will have the SEC or not. The initial press release about the BOXM package mentioned College Sports including the Big 12, Big 10, ACC, Big East, Pac 10 and SEC. However, over on Sirius' site, on the page about the BOXM, it fails to mention the SEC while the others are mentioned. Will it be deal breaker for me? Not by a longshot, although I am a fan of UGA and would not get the games if the SEC isn't included, the BOXM package is worth it for me for O&A, R&F, and the NHL...

With all the games being aired on my local terrestrial sports radio station, I will stick with Sirius for now. When MLB comes back, if it isn't part of the best of XM, I will cancel my sirius and get XM with best of Sirius.

I am not in a position or a mindset to want to spend more money to buy more hardware just to get MLB playoff games. I have NFL and Howard... and music I prefer more than XM.

The whole idea is to offer programming and offerings that benefit the current customers. Currently, only half of the customers are pleased.

But they really screwed the Sirius subscriber by offering absolite shit with this BOXM package... while giving XM subs a much better deal.

I have been with Sirius since 2005, and I hate to admit it but you are right.

Why Should I stay as a Sirius Subscriber if i can go to XM and get MLB, NFL and Howard Stern plus I will get Opie and Anthony, i will be able to get reception while doing the laundry on my basement and my antenna wont brake every three months???

And dont get me wrong, I love Sirius I went from the sp2 to the s50 and now I have a Sl2 and so far my radios have worked perfectly but this is unfair. One would think that Mel as Sirius CEO would try to give us the "Best of XM" and IMHO golf is not the best of XM.
I wont cancel my subscription right now but in the near future, maybe once my subscription comes up to renewal, I would go ahead and instead of renewing will get an XM radio with a monthly plan.

I dont believe that A la Carte will give us the option to choose more XM channels than those ones that are currently available for the customers that upgraded to the "Best of XM".

Totally agree, Hechizzero.

I'm not sure I'll stay a dual-sub, when my current period expires.

I cancelled one of my radios and sold it.

I am now trying to sell my Stiletto 100 with car kit and carrying case so I can make the switch to XM and get the best of Sirius added on.

If Howard Stern was on the BOXM package, would that make the XM deal a lot better?

IMO it's Howard Stern to THEM and PGA Tour to US that really makes the deal lopsided.

that's a rather broad statement you're making here. while you are going on about how half the customer based got screwed, there are those who did get something they wanted from the deal (for some, the nhl, for some the pga, for some opie and anthony, ron and fez) which makes the package worth it and most importantly no one is forced to get it.

for all the righteous indignation i have seen here and other places like orbitcast from those sirius owners, no one ever mentions that no one has to get the boxm, especially if they were happy with their sirius. sports were the main draws from xm, howard and the nfl from sirius. it looks like there is a contract issue with baseball so we got hockey and the rest of the college teams. so in other words sirius had the big names and xm had the variety. i really don't see what all of the outcry is.

You are correct about the fact that no one is forced to get anything they don't want. And in this case it that is a very good thing. In my opinion, if you look at the best of side by side, XM subs get a way better deal for the money. The customer shouldn't suffer because of a contract or lack of one. Bottom line is that if you are currently a XM customer and you add the best of Sirius to your sub, you will have access to ALL sporting events and Howard Stern. If you are a Sirius sub and add the best of XM to your sub, you still will not have access to a huge major sport that is covered from April to October. XM subs can get football in a fingersnap and Sirius subs can't get a single palyoff baseball game? It is not good business and it smells like something else is going on behind the scenes. Good thing we can vote with our $$. They aren't getting any extra from me or any of my friends who are Sirius subs. We are upset and have sent Sirius e-mails telling them so.
What bugs me is that Sirius had hockey the year before last and had basketball just last year. Has anyone explained how we lost basketball in the first place?

There is another option if you desire. You can cancel your Sirius sub and sub to XM and add the Best of Sirius. Several dual subs have done this (according to XMFAN).

As to hockey, XM bought the exclusive rights.

For NBA, its quite confusing since XM does not cover the NBA.

Yes switching to XM is a really good option right now. I am a lifetime sub with a second radio. Despite my ranting above, I do love the music stations on Sirius (especially Alt Nation) and I am very happy with the programming Sirius provides....EXCEPT I would like to have baseball in the summer. I do believe Sirius will find a way to get it done by the beginning of next season. If they do, I will gladly fork over some extra cash for the best of XM package.
I'm in my car driving a lot during the summer and would like to have baseball as an option to listen to.

You could get a cheap XM radio and be a dual sub. Despite the offerings, I will remain a dual sub. I like the music on both services.

Didn't the agreement between Sirius and the NBA expire at the end of the 2007-2008 season?

http://www.sirius.com/nba also says that the NBA is on XM.
