I am really tired of reading all the posts complaining about Sirius subscribers getting the short end of the stick on the "Best of" situation. I understand that we are not getting that much in return and XM subscribers are, but there is a simple reason for that. Sirius has better programing. That is why the writing was on the wall and Sirius bought XM. It was better, it had a brighter future.

There is a reason that we chose Sirius instead of XM and that is because we like the content better. We chose not to get theirs. I do wish we would get baseball. I in fact got an XM subscription just so I could get baseball and listen to Penn State games. If we chose not to sign up it is no big deal, we obviously didn't want the content anyway or not worth paying. And there is nothing Sirius can do about baseball. I am sure they will work on it. They probably wanted to wait until they had a deal, but with the time crunch needed to get these options to the consumers.

I think it is great that there are so many XM subscribers getting the best of Sirius. It will only help the company. I know we usually hate it when large companies take our money, but in this case we need people to buy it so the company can survive.

I love my satellite radio and want it to make it because I can't imagine going back to regular radio and losing all the great entertainment I have now. It isn't a competition now they are one company and if they make money now, hopefully that will benefit us all in the near future to give us one list of all the great programming.

I'm sorry to take up your time, but just needed to write what was in my head.

You are looking at it completely wrong and one-sided. I understand what you mean about better content, but it's not like Sirius and XM are head and shoulders different. A lot of subscribers had to weight the pros/cons of picking one over the other. I would have loved to have XM because of baseball, but I took Sirius because of football and Howard.

Now, those that chose XM because of baseball (or for any other reason involved with the Best ofs) are being rewarded with the capability of adding the NFL and Howard. Those that chose Sirius, like many of us on here, are being rewarded with the capability of adding the "Mediocres of XM" with two sports that Sirius formerly had, an awful radio sport in golf, Oprah (which is as big of a draw as Martha...blah), and O&A (which have not so much to offer). Do you see what I'm saying? XM subscribers are RECEIVING what they possible gave up in choosing XM over Sirius, while Sirius subscribers are receiving junk compared to what XM has to offer.

Remember these companies have merged and should give each side a fair deal to satisfy everyone. I don't mind paying extra money for a good product, but I feel that without baseball included there is no extra cash coming out of my pocket for this Best Of XM.
You are correct about Sirius having better programming and I feel better music stations. That is the exact reason why I went with Sirius.

i agree with everything plb said. stop whining about the best of xm package. you should be happy that the best of offering from xm is so pathetic. all it proves is you made the right choice when you decided to go with satellite radio. and if you find the choices that horriffic, don't sign up for it.

also realize this- because baseball is such a big draw for xm, there may be some contract language in the deal that makes it very hard to get sirius subs the baseball package. there is the entire off-season to get something worked out because i think that the execs for sirixm realize what is the major draw from xm. i think what the ultimate solution that they may go with is the interop radio so people can choose the baseball channel and all the games that would come with it.

if sirixm does manage to get baseball on sirius systems, i suspect that another channel is going to be added to the best of sirius package to even things out.

I think if they could have, they would have. This is clearly a contract issue and of course as greedy as MLB is, they probably wanted more money to allow those SIRIUS subs to get access.

Seems the NHL, NBA, NFL none of them seem to have an issue with adding those additional subscribers.

So maybe some of you pissed off at SIRUS should be bitching at these wise folks running MLB.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the replies and listening to what I had to say. I definitely see the other side and wish we could get everything. One thing is for sure, the uproar and emotion some people have shown with their displeasure on this site and others shows the same thing. We love and believe in satellite radio and even though we don't get treated the greatest all the time by the company (which company ever does), we want this to work.

That shows the satellite radio is healthy and hopefully will be around for a long time.

My brother has Sirius in his car, I have XM (well, currently an XM-ready stock unit). We both looked into the upgrade and, needless to say, I'll be going XM w/ best of Sirius and he'll be sticking with just Sirius. There was pretty much nothing to tempt him into getting best of XM.

Exactly. I am predicting that they will have a deal with MLB for next season, anyway. They know they need to get it done.

As a long time XM sub, I'm happy with the way it's worked out for me. I will let my Sirius sub run out when my pre-paid period is up in November, and I've already added the Best of Sirius. I've got it all! I prefer XMs music channels anyway. (even though we'll probably have mostly one set of music channels shortly anyway)

That just may be the saddest statement of them all.
