They probably have statistics showing that most users don't use "advanced features" like setting up programs, so they don't care about bugs affecting the few of us who do setup programs.
I have had a time or two where listening while recording seemed to cause problems. I rarely need to do it, but once I had problem, I totally quit doing it. My issue was the device totally freezing up. Usually the recording was 20 or 30 minutes into it so that wasn't the issue.

Like you I am just sharing my experence, but I do agree with you doing anything like deleting/removing while a recording is going is a big no, no. I also never yank my battery out of it as I've seen folks suggest many times. If you hold the power button down it will do a hard shut down and then you can remove the battery if you wish to do so. Though in all honestly I probably have removed the battery 3 or 4 times since I've had the SL2 and that was usually to swap out or make changes to the microSDHC card.

I know a lot of folks do listen while recording, but it makes me nervous due to my experience with it. In terms of just listening to the library, I've never had a problem with that either.

My only real issue was once I reached 80% of the memory the device would no longer save any Radio Replays. I enjoy the replays, so I learned to save less scheduled recordings, which I really didn't need anyway. So, I just adjusted how many of a given recording I keep and since that time the device has worked without issue.

This isn't to say that others aren't having problems, but again its all about our individual experiences. Plus I can't help but wonder if those that have had issues have reported them so that SIRIUS/ZING understands there is a need for a fix.

Thumbs up SL2 Updated - Fixed Logos

Just got the update... I now have logos for all channels except for Sirius 12 (The Bridge) and Channel 140, which makes sense as the channel name is just "Sirius".

The irony - the day they announce that Mad Dog Radio is coming to 123 is the same day that I finally get the Sirius Sports Central logo. Awesome!

I didn't mean to come off rude before dab. I apologize if I did. I firmly believe that a previous update introduced the memory problem, because the problem surfaced almost immediately after an update, and thats when the complaints began here. My frustration is I don't know how to get help. Like I said Sirius customer support completely ignored my email. And my attempts to contact them by phone have been numerous and fruitless. Their solutions are to reset and erase and hope for the best, or return it and get another one. I guess that my hope was that you might use your apparent connection with Sirius to help get this problem some attention. I agree with you that they don't fix it because they don't know about the problem or don't know the extent of the problem, nor can I get by the lackeys on the support line to explain it to them.

Maybe a sticky about this where people can explain in detail their experiences and problems with this could help. Thanks man.

This problem existed before the last update. For some of us it was a lot worse. I lost loved songs regularly before that update. The update corrected that. But I think there are still memory corruption issues which need to be addressed. I don't think they were introduced by the last update.

This latest update has my SL2 locked up at 3%. What can be done to move it along?

This fix FINALLY corrected my Wi-Fi issue. I managed to finally get the update last night.

I've tried several times since to connect to the Wi-Fi and the Stiletto has held connection each and every time for as long as I wanted to listen.

I KNEW it wasn't my router.

Thanks Directed Electronics.

Of course, I now have an external antenna and repeater which I use most of the time, but at least I can now wander around with the SL2 in my pocket and listen to most stuff live.

I know. I believe it was actually the update before that. The fact is, it doesn't matter what update caused the problem, there should be an update to fix this. This isn't channel logos. (which should have been fixed long ago) This bug takes away a lot of the advertised functionality of the radio.

I've had the problem since December. I forget the times of the updates but there was an update in March which fixed the loved songs issue (and it did). But the memory corruption existed before that. My guess is they fixed a symptom of the memory corruption but not the cause of the corruption. If the result of the corruption is the loss of some data they made sure it would not be a loved song which is why the instances of lost recordings appeared worse.

But to actually find the corruption issue they would have to actually have the developers looking and working. I have a feeling they are all working on dual mode merger radios now.

I have had issues twice now where my SL2 is deleting recorded content. My SL2 seemed to like to delete content till it was down into the teens, as far as percentage of total/max. My solution both times has been to do a device recovery. If you go to Sirius and navigate to the page where you would buy an SL2, there is a support tab and then a program you can download to do the recovery. There are also links on this site, if you search for them.

The best advice I can give is to do the recovery and then don't let your SL2 get too filled up with memory. Mine went bad most recently when I went on vacation for a week and didn't delete content. Other than consistency on deleting content, there is not much consistency among users - at least to my knowledge. I would think a good range is to not get above 70%, maybe less. Who know's.

No one that I am aware of, at least on here, knows how to fix it permanently. As a result, I now call my SL2 "Herpes". It needs treatment every once in a while for an incurable disease and causes trouble at unfortunate times.

These things, since the first units years ago, have been great in theory and poor in execution.

Isn't this somewhat of an oxymoron? If the device recovery (which I also tried to no avail) was a solution, you would only need to do it once!

But I do agree with you 100% on your `great in theory but poor in execution' observation.

I think you and I agree. The device recovery has not been a permanent solution, at least for me. It does, however, allow me to temporarily increase the amount of content saved on the device. Call it a temporary fix(??)

Default Issues

My issues until this weekend were the recordings not happening when they were set up, until I do them manuallly every week (I record stern on the weekend all 4 show in a row) and when i selected a recorded show to listen it was a crap shoot as to which one i would get and often it would be 3/4 of the way through the recording. no issues with deleted recordings UNTIL, i recorded as usual this weekend maybe 8 stern shows on the unit, undocked and shut it down Sunday. on monday AM no recordings all gone and now the update. This is crazytalk...

I just wanted to chip in with a different user experience with my SL2. I have never, repeat, never had any problems with deleted recordings. There's one particular weekly show where I have it programmed to save two shows and that's exactly what it does, deleting the oldest show when it records a new one. I've recorded from sleep mode and while listening. I've added and removed shows. I've recorded shows after they've started.

My memory usage varies from 60-90%. I put all of my recordings on the internal memory, even stuff I drag and drop from my computer. I have radio replays, too, which come and go depending on how much other content I have on the unit.

Again, just my experience. Not everyone is having problems.

Default Enough Is Enough - 7 Months Later

This all go's back to this: http://www.siriusbackstage.com/forum...d.php?t=106124

I made a post in that thread but since it has become so bloated and is avoided by regulars I will add it here as well:

I think it's time for Sirius to issue a public statement informing us why many SL2 units are still being effected by this memory bug. Since I made this post back in February it has received over 7,000 views and is one of the most highly viewed threads on all of SBS. Don't you think this is an indication of just how many consumers are being effected?

I have been very fortunate to not have any issues with my device for many months now. But at the cost of not using my Radio Replay feature and by avoiding using my device memory over 60%. Some can't even use THAT much memory! Due to the cost of the Stiletto 2 and the fact that only the most dedicated Sirius fan base were early adopters of this device I feel that Sirius should work with us here.

If it's fixable tell us WHEN to expect a resolution. We have seen three updates so far and not one has addressed it. If it's NOT fixable, offer SL2 owners some sort of compensation for our troubles. It's the right thing to do.

Sirius will never acknowledge that there is a problem such as this. In all the years I've had dealings with them, they have never done such and I do not suspect they will start anytime soon.

Your request is a good one, but it won't happen!
