Unhappy frustrated

Bought the stiletto 3 weeks ago and have gone through 3 units and tech support has been useless. each unit has identical problem that about every 3rd or 4th time i turn it on (usually after listening to internet radio) it says "updating sirius" for about 5-8 minutes then it finally lists the channels but you can't select them so then you have to power it down and when it comes back on it says "subscription updated" and then it works. I have updated, device recovery, etc. it is driving me crazy and i have no answers. anyone have similar problem or a solution! thanks.

Mine has done the not being able to select channels a few times recently.

I usually just do a hard shutdown and restart, then all is well.

Same thing with my SL2 over the last few weeks. The Hard Shut Down is the only solution I have found.

If you're talking about an SL2, then most of what you describe is normal. A "new" SL2 will probably need to get the latest updates, which it gets when connected through the Internet. The last part of the recent updates is the baseband update, which is only applied after the Satellite chip is enabled. So that's why the next time after you listen to Sirius Satellite after listening to Internet radio, you see the "Updating Sirius" message. This takes about 7 minutes to complete. When that's done, however, you should see the "Subscription Updated" message and be good to go.

I'm not sure why you need to power down the unit to complete the process, but after you do, are you still having problems? I mean, once the update is complete, it should be done. You should only need go through this process once (at least until the next update, if there is one).

it will only say "subscription updated: after i power it down o/w after it says "updating sirius "it just freezes up and won't let me select a channel. and it does this about every 4 times i start it up, regardless and each unit has done the same exact thing. I have updated it through my PC as well and it will still say updating sirius when i dock it after that? Very frustarting like i said b/c about every 4th time i use it i have to go through the whole process o/w i have no radio for 10 minutes.... thanks for you help.

The baseband update is the hardest to get to work. It can take about 2 - 5 minutes so it may be that you are not letting it finish. It also fails to work the first try and takes several tries. It took me 1 hour of fidling when I first did it.

As an alternative, I would recommend a device recovery. A device recovery will give you the latest and greatest without the pain of "Updating Sirius" etc. You will lose all your settings and saved content but it does the update cleanly.
