Thumbs down Recording Songs on Stilletto=Problem

After reading a few reviews, I think I will have to pass on the Stilletto for the following recording features. I would like some confirmation from owners.

* It has been stated from other owners of the stilletto that you can't "LOVE" a song from the replay buffer and it only saves it to "Favorites". However, if you are listening "live" and you get a minute into a song and decide to "LOVE" it, the Stiletto will record it.

Don't like this AT ALL.

*It has been stated from other owners of the stilletto that you can record music channels in BLOCKS and go through song by song when listening to these blocks....but you CANNOT LOVE songs in these blocks for your song lists? The S50 LETS you do this and is one of the best features of the S50.

REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS.

If these above statements are true, then I'm KEEPING my s50 for a very long time. I am happy with the S50 overall, as I mostly listen to recorded items over live reception almost 90% of the time. The Stilletto intrigued my a little bit, but these two problems would make me not want the unit.

Also, if this is true, it seems like the ONLY way you will be able to save songs now is if you listen LIVE. I've LOVED about 90% of my s50 songs by listening back to pre-recorded Sirius Channels that were stored on the S50. Now Sirius will only let you LOVE songs if you are listening LIVE?

BOOOOOO

Please let me know for sure. Thanks so much for this great forum.

Didn't you post this yesterday? Please don't double post!!! I've merged your two threads together and deleted the duplicate post. If you don't get an answer don't make another post, you ask again in the same thread.... Eventually someone will answer.

Of all the posts I've read on the Stilletto, I agree with you PT. Think I'll stick with my S50 and it's ability to save songs from recorded content. No better way to kill time on an airplane than to sort through 8 hours of music and save the ones I like.

you cannot record an entire song. This is because of "the man" so when you click on "love" and start recording it can only go back about 7-8 seconds of its buffer memory and record the song.

The Inno I believe can record the entire song. Xm are being sued by the RIAA for this I believe (but for us its great, cos thats a feature I would want.)

No, the Inno will not record the whole song either if you've just switched to the channel. If you've been on the channel for awhile and at the last minute before the song ends, both the Stiletto and Inno will record the full song. In fact I'd say in regard to recording/loving songs the Inno and the Stiletto work exactly the same. They key to both is hitting the record button before the song ends, once it ends, you can't go back on either one to record that song. On the S50, you can rewind back into the buffer and "LOVE" songs from there, but that is no longer allowed due to the RIAA. Just like song/artist seek was not added for this same reason. Which is why XM is in a lawsuit.

However, the Inno does have some other recording advantages, but I won't go into that. In fact the S50 has some recording advantages, which is why I am hard pressed to get rid of my S50.

I cannot get this to work on a Stilletto. No matter how long I've been on a channel, I seem to be able only to record 7-8 seconds prior to when I press the love button. Have you tried this yourself? Can you tell me if I have to option changes anywhere else. thanks

I am waiting on one to come in from TSS, but I'll check with my son, he got one from CC just today. I will certainly be checking his out tonight. Perhaps someone else can say for sure. But my understanding from my contacts is that as long as you hit the "LOVE" button while the song is playing and you've had it on the channel and know the full song is buffered, then it should record the whole song. I'll let you know if someone else doesn't let you know before I test it out myself.

lemme take that back. I think that I was able to record a song after being on the same channel for abt 10 minutes. I'll try some more tests when I come back from work, but if this works then yay!

You can't do this on the S50 either. Not from a recorded block of time. You can LOVE them from the buffer that's good for about 45 minutes and you can LOVE them from your MyChannels that it automatically records. (sort of...) But if you hit the LOVE button while listening to a block recorded set, it will ask you if you want to delete the track.

Sorry DAB for the double post....

TheScionicMan in regards to loving songs from a recorded block of time.

I actually meant loving songs from MyChannels that it automatically records. I don't believe the Stilletto has this option. Does the Stilletto do the MY Channel Automatic records? If it doesn't that is definitely a step down from the S50 and I have gotten about 90% of my loved songs from this feature on my s50..

Thanks for lal the replies.

You lose the ability to love a song from Stiletto radio replays vs S50 My channels. You gain the ability to store more Stiletto replay channels vs 3 S50 My Channels (not entirely sure how many in total).

The loss of this feature I would certainly trace back to RIAA. Their finger was not in that pie. I wonder if the next generation S50 loses this also?

DAB, you are absolutely right. As long as you are listening "LIVE" (not even 1 second behind), you can get the "whole song", so long as you have been listening to that channel since the beginning of the song. The weirdest thing about all of this to me... and hold on tight b/c this is tricky to type about...is that if a song comes on "LIVE" and you pause the song, then unpause, and the song is still playing "LIVE" even though it is ahead of you and you "LOVE" it the Stiletto records it. So "technically" it will "LOVE" from the buffer...sort of. But the second a song is not "LIVE" then only adding to "favorites" is possible.

It works identically to the Inno

I have no idea why it isn't working for you. You must be on the channel before the song starts though

Cool

let me start out by saying that i am a bit jealous of all you guys with the stiletto so my post here may be a little bit of sour grapes but...

i think not being able to save or love songs from my channels or replay as the stiletto calls it, it a HUGE setback. like the poster above has said, all my saved songs on my s50 have come from me leaving it on a channel when i go to be and then sorting through it when i wake up. recording songs onto the stiletto sounds like it has become a chore now.
