Question Recording at a certain time with unit on Sleep

alright.. need a little assistance on this one. I scheduled a recording to occur at 6 to 10pm M-F. Aren't you supposed to be able to put the unit in sleep mode and when it's time it'll power itself on and start recording? I have attempted this time after time and unable to get the unit to power on. It seems a little redundant if you have to leave the unit on to record the program you're waiting to record at a certain time, especially since the extended battery only works approx. 4 hrs in Sat. mode. Any suggestions or is it just not supposed to power on by itself. I swore I read in the manual that it'll power on as long as you are in a sat. area.

It may need to be docked. I put mine in the sprtster 4 dock and worked as scheduled.

Was the radio in a spot that got good sat. reception? If not it will skip the recording.

It works as you stated. If you are there watching for it to turn on, that has not been my experience. I have programmed things to record while in the sleep mode. I have watched it at the time it was supposed to start. I never saw the units display come on. However, I patiently waited the hour for the program to record. After the time expired I turned the unit on and went to the library and the program was there. Visually I didn't see the unit doing anything.
