Default Soloist Universal Sound System - Just got it!

Walked into Best Buy this afternoon and I was surprised to see the Soloist Universal Sound System! Comes with special adapter to mount the Stiletto 100. Fits like a glove! Perfect.

Looks awesome, built in Alarm clock. I was surprised that the remote control controls the Stiletto! I do NOT have to touch the Stiletto once it is mounted. Every option on the Stiletto as well as all the controls for the Soloist is controlled by the remote. I thought I read that the remote would not control the Stiletto but I can verify it does! even a love remote button.

While in the cradle it charges the Stiletto and in fact does everything the home dock does. The Soloist has a DBB (bass boost) and preset equilizer settings.

The Soloist takes up very little depth space as it has the flat speaker system. Sounds great. On the front of the Soloist is a headphone jack and and auxiliary out jack. In the back is a line in, line out, antenna hookup, DC power jack and a USB hookup.

The Soloist has a 5 step LCD display for brightness of the clock and menu display. Still experimenting.

Any questions just ask.........

I do NOT need the home dock now! This is much better.

Default channel presets?

Are there channel presets on the remote?

I'm waiting for the executive system because I really want channel presets. But then, I doubt there is a sleep timer on the executive system like there is on the Soloist. I wish one system had both. Does one?

Could this be used as an alarm clock replacement? I don't suppose there is a snooze or beeping alarm?

If I get it, it's going on my nightstand...and that will require removal of my alarm clock. If it can't reliably wake me from my Ambien-induced slumber, I can't use it!

Just picked up my Soloist last night, haven't even tried it yet. Looks like a nice unit, it is much smaller than it appears in photos. From what I can tell, looks like it functions as a dock, since it does have a mini-USB port on the back. If so, I'm glad I got this instead of a home dock, much more functional...

If anyone is interested, the BB at La Cantera here in San Antonio has one left as of 9:00 last night. The guy in car audio (where they have it with all the other sat radio stuff) said they got them in last week, no one had bought one yet. He was actually asking me all about the Stiletto, since he had yet to see one.

Can't wait to try it today...can anyone confirm that the internal Stiletto antenna works in the dock, or does an external antenna need to be hooked up?

I would think when docked it would rely on your plugging the antenna in on the Soloist and not use the built in antenna. As you said it is like a dock, so it will work like a dock would work, which is that you plug the antenna into it.

Charlie C thank you very much for the great information. Good job!!! I really did not want to buy one of these, but I can see that is probably going to happen for the sleep and alarm function. Might as well get it instead of a home dock.

With the soloist, is the antenna built in or does it have a antenna with the long run of wire?

Default Antenna

The antenna comes with the package. It is the one with a long wire. The sound is excellent. bass Boost is nice. Not as good as my Bose wave clock radio, but then again its 250 dollars less!

You can get the Soloist and do not bother with the home dock. Thats exactly what I am doing.

I am now going to test some timed recordings......

Good stuff. Looking forward to falling asleep and waking up to the sweet sounds
of my Stiletto on the Soloist.

Last Sat Rad audio box I bought is collecting dust since 2004 because of the crap audiovox unit breaking its antenna connection.

Default Some Assembly Required

One thing when you open the box is there are lots of parts.

Although not as compllicated as running wires and routing them through your dashboard with a car kit, I did read the directions to put this together. There are screws and other options and connectors to slide and mount which was more than plug and play.

The first confusing thing was the two batteries. Two were supplied both the same size but different. Reading the manual, the CR2025 goes into the Soloist dock and the CR2032 goes into the remote. After installing, the cover was not that easy to snap into place. Also on the remote it is hard to tell which way it goes into the remote.

Next get out your little phillips screwdriver. You have to move over the connector from the left side to the right. You unscrew the the screw on the left side and slide the connector over and screw it in the right side.

Finally you select the appropiate docking Cradle Types. There are cradles for the Stiletto 10/100, Sportster 3/4 or an iPod.

This was the hardest piece to snap in. You align the two indents in the front side the the back fits into the base. It took lots of fiddeling to get it to be flush with the base. The instructions say the screw is optional. Why would you not screw it in? You certainly are not going to unscrew the lower connecter every time you want to replace it with an iPod.

The hardest part was pulling off the DAMM STICKER! I pulled it slowly off, but pieces of the sticky stuff remained here and there and I used the sticker to unstick those remnants off the panel.

Anyway, It works GREAT! Volume controls nicely. It will take some getting used to to learn all what it can do. So Far so Good.

I have the time set now lets work on the alarm and sleep timer. It's going to be a long night!

Enjoy!
