Default How To Figure Out WI-FI Password

I have wirless internet in my house and the Stiletto detects it but it is secured and is requesting a password. Does anyone know how I can figure out what my password is because I have no idea what it is. I'm using an SBC wirless modem. I believe that it is a "2-Wire".

Just reset it, that is all you can do. Contact SBC if you don't know how to do this. They will walk you through it. Just make sure when you set it up that you do so configuring it to work with the Stiletto.

Did you have someone else set it up? Did they give you the admin password? If you do have the password, whip out the manual (on disk most likely). On your PC go to run and type in command, hit enter. At the command prompt type in ipconfig /all. Drink beer now. You are looking for the address for the default gateway (your router, 192.168.x.x). Type that address in your web browser to pull up the admin page (usually you will only have to type in the admin password but refer to your manual). Use your manual to locate the wireless security settings. Drink more beer. Make sure the wireless security is set to wep 64-bit or wpa1/2. Enter password in SL. Drink more, you earned it.

Though it is probably best to just reset the router and setup the WiFi connection again.

if you have a 2wire modem from SBC, then the key is a 8 digit number printed on the bottom of the modem.

I found the password but it is still not connecting. Do I need to change the settings on the system details for the 2wire so that it will let the stilletto connect. Currently there are two computers in my house running off of this modem. Can someone please let me know what I need to do.

Start by diabling all the security, WEP, H/W firewall, everything. Try to connect then. If it works, you can start adding security and see what config it will work in. I had to leave the H/W firewall disabled to connect. Make sure that if you have the MAC address filtering enabled, that you enter the MAC address from the Stiletto.

The password to gain access to the modem will most likely not be the same as the password to connect a device to it.. Once you get into the modem, you have to see what the WEP password is. Hope that makes sense.

I have a 2wire too. The password isn't so much of a password. There are a couple of numbers on the sticker on the bottom of the unit (or back or wherever). There is a 10 digit # below the serial # that should be the # you are looking for. There is also an 8 digit # that starts with 2wir####, that is probably not the # you are looking for. Mine connected on the first try. I was only 3 feet away from it at the time, but it connects all through the house.

Try the 10 digit #. Your manual, if you still have it, will call it the WEP encryption Key and probably not describe it as a password.

Ok, I have a wierd issue here. When I connect to my router, I get less Sirius Channels then I would connecting to a neighbors unsecured router. For example, I can connect to Sirius Hits 1 on my neighbors router. But, I cant get that channel when connecting to my own. Is there some kind of setting that has to be modified on the router, in order to be able to connect to all the channels? Thanks
