Default Dock question

I have the car dock on order and want to know from anyone who already has one, can you plug the AC adapter that came with the Stiletto into it to pull double duty as a home dock?

I used my car dock as a home dock for my S50 and would not like to spend extra money if I really didn't have to by buying two docks.

I dunno about that, but the guy at Radio Shack told me you can buy an adapter to plug your cig lighter power cord into a regular home outlet. It was like $15

Hope that helps

I got one from partsexpress.com for 2.99. I used my sportster car dock in the house for a year.

Default dock response

Yes. The AC/DC convertor would be the way to power it in the house. But I'm curious what will you use for a antenna. Does the standard windowsill antenna available from Sirius.com adapt to the car dock? I think all the antenna male connectors are identical, but I'm not positive on that. I would want one antenna for car, and another fixed antenna at home. It would be intresting to see if you can resolve that. Maybe you can keep us posted.

At least on the S50 and any other xm/sirius satellite radio I have owned, the antennae connectors are identical. I still have the S50 home antenna and would use that to connect to the Stiletto dock. My big concern was the power. I really wanted to know if the ac adapter that came with the Stiletto would be able to be used in the car dock or if there was a voltage difference or even connector size difference.

I love the Stiletto, but the way the connector at the base of the radio is, I am assuming it is more intentional than accidental.

I mean they had to have known that the antennae headphones would block the power port. I believe they did this so people would have to buy one of the docks. I would have been just as happy to use the headphones as my antennae and have it plugged into the outlet at the same time and forego a dock altogether.

since i couldn't buy a car dock, i have a invertor in the car for power. I have the ant headphones in the moonroof. I did have to very carefully file down the sides of the 2 plugs. now i have 3 plugs in the botton of my stiletto at the same time

I have to say, you are a braver man than I

I suppose I will wait till my car dock ships and keep my fingers crossed that it also works with the AC adapter.

Im dong just that - I bought a car dock, using my window sill ant connected to the dock and the AC wall plug for power, the headphones are plugged into the Line Out jack with a Radio Shack headphone vol control inline for volume adjustment.

Im working on a patch cable / adapter to allow a regular home/car antenna
straight to the stiletto

Rich

Thanks

I would have tried it myself, once I got it. The reason I wanted to know after I already ordered it was so that I could steer away from a home dock in the event I found one available between now and the day the car dock gets to my doorstep. Now I know if I happen to be in a BB and one is there, I can keep my money

BTW, does the Stiletto wake itself up from a poweroff in the car dock to record a scheduled program? Or do you need to keep it on or in standby?
