Default Stiletto car dock available Best Buy

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but some of the Best Buy stores in Phoenix and also in Los Angeles have the Stiletto car dock (SLV1) in stock. I picked mine up this morning in the Suprise, AZ store. The packaging has a promotional sticker that mentions a free FMDA25 FM Direct Adapter. One gotcha though. It turns out that Best Buy doesn't carry the FMDA25 FM Direct Adapter. I called DE and they said the promotion is through Sirius. I'll have to call Sirius when I get a chance. I hope they can ship me one. Anyway, I got home and ripped the packaging open. I went to install the dock on my custom mount and it turns out that the screw holes only match up if the dock is on it's side. My old reciever was a Sanyo. I had to drill some new holes in the mount and it looks pretty good. I used the old antenna for now and I'm getting a great reception on it. I'll have pictures soon.

Then this looks good for me because I ordered one from Best Buy today because they claimed there were 7 available. Maybe they weren't wrong. I just assume people are wrong at this point when it comes to their Sirius inventory.

Nice, I like your custom mount in that you don't see all those holes on the side like you do with the ProFit mounts.

I had to drill holes in my ProClip mount too. The holes that were already in the mount did not match up but If I did turn it 90 degrees it would of matched up. Did Sirius mess up with the standard screw pattern? I just assumed that the ProClip screw patter was for other ProCip device holders.

Sirius is using the standard AMPS screw pattern for the Stiletto car dock. I think it's just one of the rare cases where the pattern is aligned vertically (due to the narrow dock) instead of horizontally. The ProClip mounts must assume that the horizontal AMPS mount pattern will be used by default. I believe that ProFit and Panavise give you both vertically and horizontally oriented AMPS mount patterns on their mounts. I'm using a combination of an Arkon and Panavise swivel mount in my car, and the AMPS pattern works fine with the Stiletto dock without any modifications to the mounts.

Any news on receiving one through Sirius? I too purchased my car dock at BB and would like to know how to get this FM Adapter.

Default adapter

Well I too just got my car dock, and the FM transmitter is worthless.
I guess it does make a good $70 battery charger though.

I called Sirius, and was told it was due to the FCC requiring that the transmitter power in all Sirius radios be cut in half(as of September), and that the only solution to not being able to use the FM transmitter in the dock was to use the inline antenna adapter(that is "free") according to the packaging. I asked them if they were going to send me one free of charge and there response was of course "no", BUT they would credit my account $20. So I asked when this would occur and it was added instantly. Now about the adapter, I ordered my docks(also got the home kit) through Crutchfield. The adapter was listed on my order free of charge, but like everything else Sirius releases, it is on back-order. I was told by the Sirius "technical advisor" that I could get the adapter at any Sirius retailer, IE: Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, etc... Upon calling all of those retailers, as well as a few other places, none stock them, nor could I find them availaible online at any of their respective sites. I almost wonder if they actually exist. Sad thing is, this will be Sirius' remedy fro anyone who has transmitter problems. Even after spending $500 in gear I cannot listen to the stiletto in my car!

I was able however to find another online store that has them for $19.99, but of course I have to pay shipping.

I am not sure why Sirius has a promotion offering them for free, but not being able to supply them. Sad thing is, they knew this was going to be a problem prior to releasing the docks, yet had no stock on hand to quell the rush.

I just returned my car kit to BB. Go to the car stereo installer area of the store. They have the adapters there in the garage.
They didn't believe me that it was free. Upon ringing it up with the repurchased car kit-it came up $0.00 for the adapter.
They didn't stock the adapter on the floor and the marked price is $29.99.
They did actually thank me for letting them know about the promo.

The Best Buy in Murray, Utah had the stiletto car kits when I bought my stiletto on wednesday. They were trying to persuade me to buy one but I told them I was already using my sportster replay with a car kit. I have a replay that I purchased in June before the fm transmitters were weakened, and that's all I'm doing, Just using the transmitter. I didn't even bother putting the antenna on the roof, it just simply sits on my dashboard. When I get to learn the stiletto more though, I'll probably put in a stiletto car kit.
