Default Stiletto needs an "Office Dock"

We need a dock that has a headphone jack that can have the volume adjusted properly on the Stiletto. I listen at work and the home dock doesn't work out so well because the volume is too loud. At home the "home dock" works fine but for work it just doesn't quite cut it.

There are other alternatives with headphones with an attached volume control but, generally speaking, those are wireless and expensive. Not necessarily what I need but is definitely an option. Not to mention they are completely overkill when sitting 2 feet from dock.

If anyone knows of a good volume control that can be purchased please post it here. I know there are some posted in other threads but maybe it would be nice to have it all in one thread.

There is one final option that I can think of and that is to hook it up to a boom box. This will surely work but I have a tiny cube and can use all the space I can get. I would prefer to not resort to this option.

If anyone has any ideas to help me with my delima I would appreciate it. Right now I'm in repeater range so "technically" I don't need a dock. Unfortunately there are days where reception gets a little rough so I would like to tackle this issue eventually. So any and all ideas are welcome.

what are you outputting your home dock to? directly to headphones? Can you get a set of desktop computer speakers with the mini plug attached to the dock and then use the headphone jack in the speakers to listen at your desk and adjust the volume?

Sony makes a great set of noise cancelling earbuds with a volume control. you can get them pretty cheap at ecost.com

Or connect the home dock to the Line In on your computer and use it to control volume.

$14.99 from Shure:

(Don't let the description scare you, it'll work with any headphones, not just Shures)

Default Speakers

I bought a cheap pair of computer speakers and have the home dock plugged into those at the office. Works fine since I have a volume control on the speakers. I adjust it just right so the remote can then be used to control the volume.

I'm using this in-line volume control from Radio Shack. Works great with my headphones and the Stiletto home dock at work, and it's only $7.99.

Thanks all. I would use my computer but every time I feed through computer I seem to get some form of static. I really enjoy satellite because there is no static. Call me picky...

I might try one of the line-in volume controls and see how that works out.

Using speakers isn't an option because I listen to Stern all day. I don't think my coworkers would enjoy hearing some of the more colorful things that are said.

I'll work something out. Right now I don't even have a dock for work and am using the repeater. Works good but some days it's hard to get good reception for an extended period of time without dropouts. I can do some tests at home using the home dock.

Thanks again. Feel free to continue to post other options if you think of them.

That is a great solution... thanks for posting it! I remember using something like this on earlier modes of SIRIUS tuners. Most home docks don't have headphone jacks, so this would certainly help those that use headphones.

I like it too!

What I like about it most is that it's small enough where you can adjust it and put it behind the dock. Then you could probably use the volume control on the dock for the headphones. I think there's enough variance in the dock volume control to make it a workable headphone volume.

Good find!

Thanks

Actually, you get a lot more volume control through the dial on the Radio shack adapter than you do by using the volume buttons on the Stiletto itself. So you might want to keep that volume control adapter closeby when you use it. The Stiletto's volume buttons don't have that much range when using the "line out" jack on the home dock.
