Default plug in antenna = higher volume

OK, so I was listening to music today, running off the battery, in a repeater area.. While listening, I plugged in the antenna headset.. When I did that, the sound got louder. The question is, WHY? I understand that if I plug it into the wall, that will give more power and maybe increase volume, but all I did was plug in the antenna, no outside power. Anyone else notice this?

i was wondering the same thing. with any headsets other than the antenna headsets, you have to turn the volume up quite a bit. very strange!

SO you used the same headphones or different headphones? After market headphones compared to included headphones?

When I noticed this, I had on the silver earbuds that came with it.. I know the ones that come with the player usually suck, but i kinda like theses. and they actually seem to stay in my ears..
so anyway, had the earbuds in and plugged in the sat headphones.

I use a little fm transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack (haven't gotten the car kit yet...coming this christmas and can't wait!!!), and noticed that the volume increased with that when I plugged in the antenna headphones. Struck me as strange, but was very appreciated as the volume through the fm transmitter that I am using is horrible!
