Question Antenna Question

I still am waiting for my home dock to show up. Im wondering though, is the antenna with the home dock a better, stronger antenna than the headphones? Are they basically the same thing or is one expected to be stronger than the other? What about the Terk Marine Antenna? Would you assume that antenna to have the ability to get a better signal?

Just wondering if anyone has done a comparison. I dont know much about the electronics around the antennas.

The antenna with the home dock is absolutely a better, stronger antenna than the headphones. I don't know about the marine antenna, but there is an outdoor home antenna the gets excellent reception. It does require a bit of an install job. Not as easy as setting up the regular home antenna on a window sill. Here's a link to it on Sirius's website...

Oh, btw, from what I understand, the headphone antenna doesn't have any better reception gain then the built in antenna. They are suppose to simply be an external antenna for when your stiletto is in your pocket or backpack. However, the home and car docks come with higher gain antennas. So you should see a defineate improvement over the headphone antenna.

Thats what I was hoping. I will see how it works when it gets here and then post my findings.

I just got the home dock, has the same antenna that my sportster came with when SIRIUS first came out.. Nothing Special.

Thanksfully I had an extra car antenna, which I hooked up to my home dock and wired out my window which attached beautifully to my ROOF.

I'm not sure if the home dock antenna is waterproof, but this sure is.

3 FULL bars!

Having purchased several radio's myself, and helping friends and family install their Sirius radio's also, I have seen many Antenna's, and can attest to the effectiveness of the "Dot" antenna that TSS sells. They have a limited packaging version that is very basic for less than $25 that has the strongest signal that I've encountered to date.
