It really boils down to if they can tell it was dropped or not, you say there isn't any visible signs so unless you tell them they won't know.

The point I was trying to make is that you don't want to tell them you dropped it because you think that is covered under the warranty. Abuse, which is what a drop would be consider is not covered.

The bottom line is at all retailers your first 30 days... you can always get a refund or do an exchange for almost any reason, but it is all in what you tell them when you go.

When my Stiletto isn't docked, it inside a case logic iPod case, I've dropped it at least 3 times with no harm done. Protecting these devices is a must even if that means investing in a cheap $4.95 case until you can get the one that actually fits it. This is my responsibility I feel to protect it like crazy and I'll continue to do that even after I get the proper case for it.

BadMother,

We don't have any of the Armbands/Belt Clip. The one you got was the last of the first batch of the Pre-Orders. And even though we have many on order, there are only so many that have come in.

Here is a good scenerio...

JKoffler44 walks into bb or cc......

JKoffler44: "Hi I bought this here a few weeks ago and it has seemed to stop working correctly. I have my receipt. I'd like to exchange/return it."

CC/BB Guy: "OK whats wrong with it."

JKoffler44: "There seems to be a short in the headphone connection. I'm not exactly sure."

CC/BB Guy: "OK lets go to the service desk for your refund."

Let's face it it's how the world works. You think that the kid a BB or CC making $7.50/hr really cares where the loss occurs. It ain't from his pocket. He just works there.

Before everyone gets crazy on me let me say one thing. There is a difference in dropping something 3 feet and total neglect for a piece of equipment. I own a stiletto and am very careful with it. I also believe that it should be constructed well enough to withstand everyday use.

Return it...Get a new one....and Move on. IMO

Bastard!

No wonder the phone rings off the hook with people saying they are friends of MotherFarkers. LOL

Thank you hardfive! I really don't think it will matter to Best Buy one way or the other. If it wasn't a big box company, I probably would think twice. This isn't about me "Not taking responsibility for my actions." You really don't know me well enough to make that assessment. But here is what happened.
I brought it to the Best Buy down the road. Told him it wasn't working. He directed me to another guy that it turns out I graduated High School with. He took it in the back, messed around with it, and somehow fixed it.
Does this make everyone feel any better???

Well, since we have TSS Radio here participating in this thread...what's TSS's opinion about this?

Yes, and be 100% honest. If you feel differently than what you just expressed over the phone, I don't mind. I won't cancel my order or anything!

If he fixed it odds are he knows you dropped it. Now he knows you are a liar!

Just joking. Glad you got it fixed. I would go crazy without Sirius for a day.

Who's TSS, this is Kelly Clarkson.

I've said this in the past to different customers. We can reason. We stick to our policies when someone is obviously lying to us and doing it on purpose. But most of the time we will be more than generous if someone is in a predicament, so long as it doesn't put others in a predicament.

In other words, have a problem, let us know and be honest and we are going to do what we can. Just make sure you want to be helped.

We've broken our own policies in the past, numerous times in order to help people. But some people not knowing us, may approach it the wrong way.

In short, I'd swap it out no problem. Just be honest about it.

I'm sorry, I would still want a new one. ex. I bought a HP LCD tv from J&R music world (NYC) I set it up for the super bowel. it went on, went off, never went back on again. I called HP, they said they will pick it up and repair it. Thanks but no thanks. Went back to J&R and they gave me a new one. Once the plastic part broke inside, you will always have a problem with the unit. If the guy at BB is your friend, tell him you want a new one. I had to keep my stiletto in a padded eyeglass case because there was nothing else to protect it with. I spent $30 on a case, but I had to wait for it like everyone else. Even a cheap belt clip would of saved you from dropping it.
GET A NEW STILETTO. my 2 cents

Now I have to find a Best Buy that has the Stiletto still to exchange under the 1 year warranty.
Remember when Walkmans had headphone plugs that were straight-in and not bent at angle as they are now and after some use, the headphone jack went bad as you describe: in and out reception of the audio from a busted audio jack? I couldn't believe it when I saw the in-ear little headphones provided with the $395 Stilletto were still that straight-into-the-hole style that ruins the jack connection when and because it gets hit from the side or dropped with use and the connection inside the hole gets screwed up. Dumb. They should all be replaced free. At least the iPod has a reinforced straight-in style of the earpiece connection.

Yeah normally (in most cases) its not that the jack itself breaks but the solder comes loose that holds it to the circuit board (or card). I'm thinking and asking myself how the guy took it in back and "fixed" it. I doubt he took it apart and resoldered it. Maybe he just tugged the headphone plug and by luck it remade the connection.......but this could start acting up again as it may need to be resoldered to fix it long term. Time will tell.

When I first got a MyFi, I had to return it the next day because the #7 button didn't work. In my rush to return it, I had forgotten to pack up the home and car docks and home antenna. The young girl working the counter didn't check to make sure everything was returned and simply told me to go back and get a new one. When I got home I realized what I did. Those people could care less as you say what you return. They just want their paycheck and to talk to their friends on what they are doing that night.
