Default Runners: How does the Stiletto work

Has anyone started running with this yet? How is the reception, etc...?

Thinking of buying one to use to kill time on long runs training for a marathon...

Anyone?

The biggest factor with live reception is if you live an area with a repeater. If you do, you shouldn't have any issues at all. You can check here:

http://www.dogstarradio.com/sirius_map.php

I don't live within range of a repeater, but the signal is still usable.

I've been running in the evenings, when the signal here is generally the weakest. I generally only get one bar with the antenna headphones, and get dropouts when I'm underneath just about anything.

I have used it biking in rural areas with no repeaters. One or two bars with antenna headphones around my neck. Some issue with drop out under heavy tree cover.

I bike to/from work and to/from the gym and liquor store every day and get perfect reception with just my regular earbuds. But, I'm about 5 miles from a repeater.

I'm getting really tired of you rubbing in your fantastic repeater.

If you don't stop I'm coming to live next to you!

After a week of outdoor use I am happy with the reception of the stiletto but I have to say that the inno has better reception in my area.(tried both with sat. headphones) I run 15 miles a day with either.

The close repeater is about the only thing that makes it worth living in Houston. Luckily, Boston also has plenty of repeaters so I can keep rubbing it in a year from now.

15 miles/day?? You know that's really not good for you, right? You might want to google search some articles on jogging- there have been a lot of studies done that show the health benefits of running vanish and running actually becomes very damaging after a certain number of miles/week.

Give or take a km. I have been into bodybuilding for 12 yrs and my time is spent running and at the gym or running after my four kids.lol. The stiletto works for me at the gym and while out jogging. But I wear the sat. headphones and have never got more than 1 bar. This has been good enough for me to get a signal and now I can listen to stern while I run.

I play a lot of sports as well as cross-country jogging and can tell you that anything over 5-6 miles/day is bad for you if you're running more than 5 days/week. In fact, the health benefits of jogging fall off fast once you hit around 15 miles/WEEK on flat ground. You should really head over to newscientist.com or even search around in Science magazine. There are a lot of studies showing that the benefits of jogging aren't the same as many other activities.

what i want to know is how do you find the time to jog that much? Like how long does it take for you to jog 15 miles?

Ok, now you got me wondering how the liquor store is factored into your every day scenario. I mean, every day? lol Can't you just stock up and go once a week/month? I must have missed some bmf info in another post somewhere.

I go pretty much every day. The liquor store near me has about a million different kinds of beer so it's fun to explore. I've almost made it through all the hefeweizens.
