Default Does Sirius charge an activation fee for a second radio?

I am going to subscribe my Stiletto later on tonight and I was wondering if Sirius will charge the $15.00 activation fee? It will be my second system so I am guessing I will be charged $6.99 per month for the Stiletto and the regular $12.95 for my car system?

Post no charge

I added my dad to my plan (extra radio) and they didn't charge me a dime for activation. Also when I switched my subscription from my S50 to my Stilleto they didn't charge me anything! Sirius Rules!!!

Default activation fee

I recently contacted Sirius about online activation. If you choose a plan a year or greater they charge 10.00. Under a year 15.00. From what Racer stated above sounds like it was done during a recent promotion maybe. Although Sirius can always waive the activation fee at their discretion. Normally though the answer to the original question would be "yes they do charge activation for second units".

Well......I already have a sportster replay but plan on getting a stiletto to add as a second unit. When I activated the sportster however, I prepaid my subscription for three years. So now what? If I add the stiletto will I still be charged $6.99 a month for the stiletto as my second unit? Can I prepay the stiletto for three years at that rate? I currently have both XM and Sirius. I have an XM myfi that I kept to use as a portable, I subscribed to XM two years ago when the myfi was introduced. I got the sporster replay in June when XM wasn't making me happy anymore. When I get this stiletto I will drop XM altogether. I want to keep the Sporster because I like the way I use it at my job. It has the old FM transmitter before they were weakened. I can leave it plugged in to a home dock at my desk and when I'm working in the next room, it transmits to a small, battery powered radio that I take with me.

Your prepaid subscription covers your first radio. You'll need to pay an additional 6.99 a month for your 100. You can prepay for as long as you want to be committed for. I would guess you may get a discount for multiple years, but not positive on that. I called customer service last night. Actually got thru real quick. Give em a ring.

I have a lifetime sub and three $6.99/mo subs. There is no discount on the $6.99/mo subs. If you prepay three years, they'll hit you with a $251.64 bill...

This is one reason I haven't activated my Stiletto yet. If I did, they'll hit me at $12.95/mo for the fifth sub. I'll wait until my mom takes over her subscription next month...

I guess I could always get rid of my Replay and only use the Stilleto but then I'd have to buy the car kit.

Some more questions.....Is Salt Lake City a good repeater area? I can't find on Sirius' website where it talks about the repeaters. If not, would the wifi feature be more useful? If I decide to get this unit, it sounds like the best thing for me to do is just pay $6.99 a month for the stiletto, and later on if I decide to deactivate the sportster, transfer the stiletto to my three year plan.

I'm a little confused. After your lifetime sub, your 2nd radio did get the 6.99 rate, is that correct? I'm guessing that 251.64 bill was because of the number of radios on your account.

>I'm guessing that 251.64 bill was

I think he is referring to $6.99 x 12mos x 3years = $251.64

saying there is no discount for prepaying

but he may have meant something else

Salt Lake City does have a repeater, and based on other threads around here, it sounds like it is located downtown. You can find a specific location on the repeater map here:

http://www.dogstarradio.com/sirius_map.php

Sirius doesn't officially release the locations of their repeaters...neither does XM.

sportboy, Dalec21 has it correct. MacFan was asking if you can prepay for three years of service on a second radio...
