Question Can Stiletto See Hidden WiFi Signal?

Just got my Stiletto and it works great. I have my WFi network set not to broadcast the SSID. This keeps the glommers off my network. I was able to locate and connect to my network with the SSID turned on. Then I turned it off while connected and it kept playing. It has my network listed in the WiFi list but, now when I go back it doesn't find it. Do I need to give it more time to locate or does it just not see hidden networks?

Thanks for your help!

I couldn't get it to connect to my router with the SSID broadcast off, similar to what you expirenced. Others have griped about this as well.

I went ahead and turned on the SSID broadcast, but with a WEP key. At least that works as advertised.

Edit: I forgot that I've got MAC address filtering enabled, too. If you don't want to take the battery out, the MAC address is listed on the device info page.

It will not see hidden networks.. You should be fine if you turn on wpa (or wep if that is all you have). You should also be able to set your router to only accept connections from certain devices (it looks for matching mac addresses). The mac address for your stiletto is on the back (maybe behind the battery, can't remember).
With all that in place, you would need someone to sit in front of your house for a few years to gain access. They will most likely just go to the next house.

Cool

Thank you for the advice. I was hoping to avoid adding WEP encryption because I have so many devices connected and having to go around and reconfigure everything but, I guess I'll have to add it.

With that and MAC filtering, I'm sure my network will be secure.

Thanks again!
