There was an issue with Amarok, but I found a post on the gentoo forum that may help solve the issue.

gphoto2 and the gtkam front end do NOT detect the device.

Gnomad was going to be my next test if I could not get amarok to work.. which I am re-emerging right now.

Well I am able to view the data on the device but failed on data transfer to and from using gnomad2. I will research and try to tweak and post back hopefully a fix. But we are half way home.

Here is the output of gnomad2 when trying to transfer:

Quote:
Queried Stiletto 100
LIBMTP_Get_File_To_File_Descriptor(): Could not get file from device (766)

Transferring MTP track...
LIBMTP_Set_Object_U32(): could not set unsigned 32bit integer property.
Return code: 0x200f (look this up in ptp.h for an explanation).
LIBMTP_Update_Track_Metadata(): could not set track duration
LIBMTP_Send_Track_From_File_Descriptor: error setting metadata for new track
Error sending file "/tmp/fileIDh41b/pti061106.mp3" to MTP device!

Are you talking about different data files than the ones we see in Windows? Or are these the files we see in the two folders.

No, I am talking about the actual mp3's or wma's that exist on the device in the library.

Harris, did you have to muck with your udev rules and add the SL info?

No, I did not have to touch udev since its a mtp device and nmodad2 recognized it and was able to view data on it but not get or put data on it

Interesting. What distro are you running?

I've got a nice list in /etc/udev/rules.d/65-mtp.rules with what looks like a rule for every "known" mtp device... none contain 'Sirius' of course...

I'm going to be kicking off a full system rebuild tonight since I updated gcc and I think that was causing my issue with amarok not loading properly.

Fedora Core 6.

I have checked my /etc/udev/rules.d/60-libmtp.rules but none for sirius. I will get the vendorid and productid and add new rule for the device.

Any luck with this Harris?

I've gotten to the point that Amarok sees the device, shows the tracks and I am able to delete them; all as a normal user. As root it fails to send the track, and as a normal user it fails and the SL reboots....

Yes, i was able to get gnomad2 to work with the device. I had to change udev in order to mount the device as writable. After that i was able to get and receive from the device. Im sorry i thought i posted my success with it.

I try gphoto2 on FreeBSD and the Mac client (XNJB) for Nomad/LibMTP and neither worked out well for me with the Stiletto. With XNJB I could get a list of files and occasionally download parts of a file off the unit, but that was it.

A new version of XNJB came out a few weeks back though, so I might try it again.
