When just listening to mine in the home dock or Soloist I find it only gets a little warm. But using it in my company van with sun shining on it I found it got pretty darn warm... too warm that I'd feel comfortable having it wrapped with a leather or rubber case.

Now on the flip side of that when mine is charging I find that the battery warms up pretty good, which makes the tuner portion get much warmer too. I think this is what they are giving the warning about.

I don't think just using it to listen with the case on it is the issue, because many will do that while using it as a portable, but they won't be charging it while on the go, so the heat will be very minimum. But if you decide to charge it, then it is recommended that you take the case off.

They cover just the display in the pic of the overlay you can see that it starts only a little bit above the sirius logo on the stiletto so the top the wifi antenna is not protected also there is a square cut out around the controls/wheel of the stilettos face.

I love the case. I was bummed that I didn't get it before I left for work today, as I was starting my car, DHL turned the corner! I was so happy!
Thanks TSS!

Exclamation Whats the bottom line?

If I understand this thread correctly,

1 - If you are using the Stiletto in portable mode then the leather case is safe?

2 - If you are docked you must remove the case, home or car dock as well as the Soloist?

Please let me know the answers to the above as I have the case in route to me as we type.

Thanks
Charlie

My understanding is that you should not have the case on the device if is is charging, because of the heat created by the charging process from the battery may cause the tuner itself to overheat. That is my take. Maybe it will maybe it won't, but they give a warning.

Now I also do not think you'll be able to dock via the home, car or Soloist with this case on anyway, because of the design of the case. It just don't think it will work this way.

Clearly the leather case is a case used for taking your Stiletto on the go only. That is my 2 cents worth!

Here is the exact warning from the box:

Your new Stiletto Leather Case is designed to protect your SIRIUS Stiletto Live personal Satellite Radio during normal use. To prevent damage to batteries due to overheating, you should remove the radio from the case if you plan to charge the battery during Live Play operation. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the battery, radio, case or other objects that come into contact with the product. Please observe all other guidelines for battery charging as outlined in your Stiletto Owner's Guide.

So again it is basically warning you when you are charging and listening live you should remove he case.

Thanks TSS!
I came home at lunch to get mine. Except TSS dropped the ball, the order was to include the protective overlay in addition to the case. When I opened the package, I only received the case... Called TSS they said they would send one out today. Hopefully I won't scratch things before I get it.

Well it could of been worse, Last week, my car dock, Home Dock, FM Adapter Cables all arrived fine and quickly.

Someone told me about your post and I was quick to get to a computer to find out what had happened. It looks like the order was in processing mode and you had added the protective overlay. When an order is in processing it essentially means the invoice has been printed. Then you must have called and added it. But the computer invoice had been changed but the actual printed invoice hadn't and that what was used to pack it. I will get on someone's case about it tomorrow. It should have been done when you had altered the order.

So did I. Thanks Taylor for the exceptional Service. Now, if I can only get BackSpin to broadcast via WiFi, I'll be all set.

Taylor, I understand some mistakes just happen. As you may recall, there was some confusion over whether the case had a window in it. No one could answer that question at that time. So I went ahead and added the protective overlay to my order. In my post, I wanted to point out I have had prior success with your organization and that the issue was quickly resolved. I also wanted to say that my previous experience was fine.

I was just surprised as when I ordered on Nov 1st and added the protective overlay the same day I thought there would be no issue. Even though you did not ship the overlay, you also did not charge me for it. I understand your concern for your guys not catching this. If I never called I don't know that you would of cought the error.

When the order was not fulfilled correctly, I called TSS and the salesman said he would ship it out right away. Once shipped I was charged for the overlay. Additionally, you did not charge any additional postage as now this new order was under your $25.00 free shipping minimum.

What's more, I asked you to send it USPS as when you last did that it came the next day as where DHL seems to take two days from Chicago. You honored this request.

In a day when I get it, all will be forgotten.

Bottom line, you understood the issue, apologized for making a mistake, and quickly remedied the situation. That's good business. Thanks.
