Default FM Direct Adapter @ Best Buy

I bought the Stilleto Car Kit and didn't notice until now that the FM Direct Adapter is free with purchase. Does best buy have them. Do I have to go to the store that I bought it at?

Thanks

You know, I was at Best Buy this weekend (trying not to buy the car dock), and I noticed it said on the package, $20 value, free FM adapter w/ purchase. I didn't see it anywhere though.

I got the free FM Mod. with my purchase of the Stiletto Car Dock last weekend. I had to tell the salesman that it was included for free. Don't let them try to tell you that it's a mail-in offer or some other nonsense.

The car dock works great. It's nice to have the preset buttons.

Crutchfield sends them out free with every car dock purchase.

I finally purchased a Stiletto at Best Buy and also bought the vehicle kit. In doing so, I went through actually a painful hour and half with one employee who refused to give me the FM Direct Adapter for free.

We called Sirius and they were not able to help us. Next was some number that gave us to contact the makers of Stiletto (which I thought was Sirius, but it was a different number). That company told us they were working on the issue of giving out free FM Direct Adapters and could not help us either.

The problem I was having with the BB guy was that he refused to give it to me for free. This was because the FM Direct Adapter costs now $30 at BB and the Vehicle Kit sticker values the item at $20. Even though the code numbers were all the same, he still refused to give to me.

After this long and painful evening, I finally mentioned that I had done some research online about this free item and read (thanks to this website) that Crutchfield was giving them away for free in their orders. Suddenly that changed everything. The guy was able to figure out that actually this item is considered "free" when actually you are paying for it within the price of the vehicle kit. Therefore he was more than happy to give to me.

It is ashame that because the item is so new and that there is such confusion on how all of these deals work. Especially when Sirus or these makers of Stiletto don't seem to even understand how things work.

Just be aware if you go at least to BB that there could be some refusal on their part to give you a FM Direct Adapter for free. I don't know how CC is with this, but this was my experience at BB.

Is TSS giving the adapter for free? Has anyone got their car kit from them yet? I am still waiting for mine. I had read that Crutchfield is even giving away the vehicle specific adapter for free as well! That is a deal.

Some cars need a special adapter to plug the FM adapter to the actual antenna. See this post for more info. http://www.siriusbackstage.com/forum...ad.php?t=89639

Hey there. I bought my car kit last week at BB but didn't get the FM Mod. I went back in today with my receipt and took a $19.99 FM Mod to customer service and told them about the deal. The guy was really helpful and said the $19.99 FM Mod I gave him was not the right one, and instead said that an FM Mod that was $29.99 was the one that was included in the "bundle". Of course, the store was out of the more expensive one, but the guy did a Customer Fulfillment and had one shipped right to my house. It is supposed to arrive in two days and didn't cost me a penny. I wonder why they had me take the $30 one instead of the $20 one in stock, especially when the sticker advertises a $20 value?

I think that there is another player in the market other than Directed who is making th adapter since they are delayed from Directed. Hence, this might be the reasoning for the higher price point.

Speedy, that could very well be, but the thing is I had the one from Directed right in my hand. They had one left in stock and I took it up to him, but the computer wouldn't "bundle" (the word he used) the cheaper one.

The direct FM adapter is used to connect the FM signal from your Sirius receiver's modulator directly to the antenna plug at the back of your car FM radio.

Direct FM adapter is a fairly new name for the unit. (Its a name I like too ) .. If you browse this forum, you'll see these things usually referred to as modulator relays, or (incorrectly) as modulators... They aren't modulators.. They don't modulate anything.

Unhappy I'd like to save $70........

I was unable to find an answer to this but is there a way to use the FM modulator in the Stiletto when using it in one of the universal docks like the Sportster 4 uses? The standard universal dock works great in my car with a direct audio connection but my truck needs the fm mod and when I try to turn it on the menu says hit the fm button to turn it on. The radio its self has no fm button. (does it?..) Do I have to have the Stiletto dock to use the modulator or is there a way around this?
