Question (Help) Sirius Studio Problem

I just purchased a Stiletto 100. Overall, I absolutely love it. One problem I have is that I cannot get the 'My Sirius Studio' software to start. Every time I start the application I receive the following error, "Application has generated an exception... Process Id=0xca8 (3240) Thread id=0xcb0 (3248)". I called Sirius and they told me the only way to fix is to call my PC manufacturer because it was due to a potential software conflict. The CSR at Sirius said they haven't had any problems. Somehow I know if I call Dell, they will charge me $150 to tell me they can't resolve a software problem for an application they didn't create. Does anyone have any advice?

Unhappy Update

Before starting this thread, I had missed one of the updates regarding the 'MSS' issues. I just downloaded MMP version 11.0 to no avail. I can confirm that I am using Windows XP with SP2.

Default hmmm...

I've been reading alot about this problem that many are having. So is this some type of software bug ? How is this going to be resolved for everyone ? Will it just be a simple update from the software company ? Or is this a seperate issue from what everyone else has been experiencing ?

Do you have the .NET 1.1 framework installed? Let me get this correct you are (still) getting an error installing MSS?

WMP11 should be able to sync songs to the Stiletto. I use that instead of the Sirius software, it is a much better interface.

Make sure you have these two entries in your Add/Remove Programs:
-Windows Driver Package - SIRIUS (zsi_fw) SIRIUS (07/28/2006 1.00.0003)
-Windows Driver Package - SIRIUS (zsi_zap) SIRIUS (07/28/2006 1.02.0006)

If you have those you should be able to sync with wmp11 (or wmp10 I would imagine too, haven't tested with iTunes, but something tells me it wouldn't work). Won't be able to get firmware updates, but at least you can put your songs on it until the Sirius software is working...

Anyone out there have Windows 2000 with SP 4? I am one of the lucky ones who have that and cannot install MSS. It is a company laptop though. I really dont want to drop 1200 bucks on a new computer for the sole purpose of being able to use the MSS software. Anyone know if another release of the software is being developed, preferably for SP4?

Thx

The answer directly from Zing.. is NO... there will be no support for W2K as Microsoft no longer even supports it.

Have you considered just upgrading your notebook to Windows XP?

I agree that using MSS is slow and awkward, but I wasn't aware we could use Windows Media Player instead. Is there a way to create and edit playlists using WMP11 that will effect the Stiletto or is it just for playing music back on the computer thru Windows Media Player?

I have successfully created and edited playlists with wmp11, with only one issue, but that was when wmp11 was still in beta, I haven't had any problems with it since upgrading to the final version.

The issue was with an MSS created playlist...I created a playlist with MSS and transferred it to my stiletto, and then went and tried to delete files from the playlist with wmp, and it deleted them fine, but after that all of the songs showed up twice in media player, but there was only one copy on the stiletto (I hope that makes sense, it seems harder to explain then I thought it would).

Since that I simply create my playlists with wmp and transfer them to my stiletto and just stay out of MSS except to check for firmware updates from time to time.

Default MSS problems

It seems now too many of you are having problems with this software. Hopefully the software issues can be resolved in the near future, but because of this. I have decided to not be in any rush to buy the 100. I just need to hang loose til into the new year some time. I feel the best thing right now is to just wait so everything can be resolved. Plus it's good to have something to look forward to. Thanks to all of you for being the test pilots of the new 100.

I think I understand what you're saying. I will have to try this as MSS is really a pain to use. I have edited songs using the previous version of Windows Media Player, but have not tried importing those songs onto the Stiletto. I'll have to try it.

Thanks for the advice.

Can anyone give a reason why not to use the included Yahoo! Music Juke Box software? I downloaded the new MSS that came with the Stiletto and it runs just like the S50 version of MSS, SLOW! The Yahoo! player works great, why not just use that package?

I am not a computer geek by a long shot, but I do not see much difference in iTunes and the Yahoo! Player. Am I missing something?

I do use YMJ to import songs to the Stiletto. But when it comes to editing playlists, don't you have to do that thru MSS anyway? Maybe I just don't understand how to do it, but it seems to me that it's easy to create a playlist in YMJ and send the entire playlist to the Stiletto. For example, if I want to move an entire album, I just create the folder and then move the entire folder to the device. But if I want to take a bunch of songs from MY Music and put them into a playlist on the Stiletto, I believe you have to do that thru MSS anyway. I don't know of a way to drag a song from YMJ straight to a playlist in the Stiletto. I believe you have to drag it to the Stiletto which puts it in MSS and then move it from there to the playlist.

Please let me know if I'm wrong because I would love to be able to edit playlists and move songs around without using MSS at all if I can. I just haven't figured a way to do it.
