Default Home Dock question

I received the home dock today from TSS. I set it up and the antenna is showing 3 bars, the remote works well and everything is just fine. I am wondering though if there is a way to record a scheduled broadcast without putting the Stiletto in sleep mode. There does not seem to be any instructions as to how to do this with the remote. I assume that to schedule a timer you have to put the unit (while in the dock) in sleep mode manually. Does anyone know if it can be done remotely? Can it be done simply by shutting the unit off or MUST it be in sleep mode?

The unit can be either fully on or in sleep mode. A couple of times I've left mine on all night to record a channel as a Radio Replay until my Mon-Fri scheduled 6-10am Howard Stern recording. Alternatively, I put the Stiletto in the home dock at bedtime, put it in satellite mode and tune to channel 100 then put it to sleep. When I come home from work the next afternoon my Howard show has been recorded for me and the battery is charged and ready to go. The home dock really complements the Stilleto and lets it live up to its design.

I agree, the Home Dock is really a necessity for the Stiletto. I did as you suggested last night and it worked perfectly. I wish there were some little indicator light or something that tells you a recording is taking place. One can't tell that it is actually out of "sleep" mode. Also, I wish there was a way to put the unit to "sleep" via the remote but that is not a big deal anyway.

I have a home dock question of my own...

What antenna comes with it? Is it that windowsill antenna I see on Sirius's website?

I'm pretty sure it is the same. I've seen them for around $40 and they look similar to the one that comes with the home dock.

yes it is.

any home dock pretty much comes with this antenna.

i have 2 of these antennas unopened sitting around.

they are a decent antenna but if you plant to mount a rooftop antenna i would suggest that you get a REAL outdoor antenna.

dont get me wrong but this antenna is more of a temp. antenna for indoor use.

You can put the unit to sleep with the remote. It's just like the unit...Hit the remote power button & it goes to sleep....Hold down the remote power button for 5 sec & it goes to complete shutdown & will not record.

Great! Just what I wanted to know. I have been putting it to "sleep" when all the time I thought I was shutting it off.

the home kit will be going to my stero in my room.

now what for the solist???
its great to be able to say that.

honestly as bad as this seems, i think the soloist will get bathroom duty.
toilet and shower duty will be siriusly better now with wifi!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
maybe this is what richard christy needs to take a bath and brush his teef!
a soloist in the bathroom.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I just got my home dock today. When I set up a recording time and channel, the the Stiletto itself have to be set to that channel or will it change to the channel it needs.

It will go to the channel that you have set to record.

Yes you can. Just "set it and forget it."

I almost got my credit card out to order something from Ronco after that "set it and forget it" comment.

Now to ask another question. Does the radio have to be on to schedule the recording or can I turn it off so it doesn't wake me late at night? Would just having the Stiletto in sleep mode be enough to activate the recording time?

I'm glad that you got that one.

If the Stiletto is in sleep mode you'll be ok. The recording will work.
