Thumbs down Doggy screen of death

Ok, ive been reading how people had their stilettos die on them. Well today it happened to me. When loading all the dots light up and that's it. It stays like that. I removed the battery and waited 5 min and it's still stuck. I bought the stiletto in early October and didn't get a CC warenty. Will I still be able to return it. I never dropped it. If I could exchange it for a new one that would be fine even though I'm going to lose a lot of recorded shows.

I never got an answer the last time someone had this happen maybe you can try.

Can you hook it to your computer and see if it recognizes it? If so you maybe able to refresh the data on the stiletto.

Try plugging it into the computer and see if you get a folder for the stiletto. If that happens then post what you see. Maybe you can drag the old firmware file the data directory so it will refresh.

Ok, I just got it fixed. Here's how
-Turn off radio
-Hold down the OPTIONS & DISPLAY buttons and turn on the Stiletto
-It's going to ask to connect to PC. Connect and follow instructions. It takes some time to reset but it works. I lost all my recording though! (

That is exactly what Mike wanted to know.... Thanks Nirvana.... So this shows that the tuner does have the ability to repair itself.

Let me ask you this, had you recently loaded some mp3's or wma's? I know the Inno when it was first released would choke and freeze up on scanning when it was first released.

Yep. I knew there was some kind of way to reset the stiletto. Only problem is it erases everything and sets the settings back to default. I hope this is the only time I have to do this. To answer your question, I uploaded only a couple of MP3s to my radio but that was weeks ago. It worked fine up until today. I hope this info can help anyone with a dead stiletto. It's not dead it just needs to be reset.

That's not really true Nirvana. My first Stiletto died, I called SIRIUS to see if they could help at all, and she told me it could not be reset and there was nothing I could do because it was stuck on the logo screen and I could not get into the menus.

So, not all Stiletto's that die can be reset.

I returned it to CC and they gave me a brand new one.

Well the question is did you do exactly what Nirvana did? Remember Mike asked you to try a few things and you said you were not interested in trying to fix it, you just wanted to bring it back as I recall.

The bottom line is that we don't need to be bringing back tuners that can be revived, which again is what Mike was trying to find out as was I. In Nirvana's case that seem to work as I expected it would.

Also I have to tell you I don't give any credit what so ever to what a Sirius support person said, most of them have never had their hands on a Stiletto. Please understand I am not discounting what you've reported, but I am discounting what these tech support people say. His was locked at the doggie logo too, but he was still able to get beyond that by doing some other things that chances are these support people probably don't even know to tell you to do.

I'm pretty sure they made ALL stilettos the same. You don't need to go into the menu. I too was stuck on the doggy screen.
I spoke with two different people. The first said return it, the second was a women and she told me how to reset and it worked.

Just for the record. EVERY type of audio electronic or handheld video game etc. has some type of reset. Some have a little button you have to push with a pin. Others like the Stiletto require a couple of buttons to be pushed.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DEAD STILETTO.
Unless of course you drop it and break it.

Did Sirius Support give you the sequence or did you just figure it out?

Sirius support gave it to me. I asked them if there is a way to reset this thing and they told me. I knew there was a reset but didn't know how to do it. They should've put it in the manual.

Well thank you for posting it. You've probably seen my early morning post Stiletto Reset Procedure Details I did following your instructions. I went ahead and documented it with pictures so other can follow along. DAB made it a sticky, so others can find this information, if needed.

Sirius has a habit of hiding such information from the consumer as it shows that the unit might be flawed in some way probably resulting in a class action suit of some kind.

Anyway, I'm glad your doggy is now happily alive and well again. Who says Cats aren't the only one with nine lives...

I'm certainly not going to argue about it, but I can tell you my first Stiletto COULD NOT BE RESET.
